The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here again, but in feet and miles. Let’s be straight – the next 16 days at Baduska are mostly a write-off. Nothing here is going to get your heart pumping.

We start off on September 15th with tiny, knee-high stuff at best, around 0.8m (3ft) from the East, with a scrappy cross-onshore breeze at 15 km/h. Combined energy is weak (86). Just bumpy and bad.

By Friday the 18th, we see a pulse to 1.5m (5ft) from the SE, but it’s only 6 seconds of period, so it’s fat and sloppy. The wind is still cross-shore, giving a moderate 300 energy reading, but the quality is poor.

Saturday the 19th is similar: 1.5m to 1.6m (5ft) of short-period ESE swell, rain, and cross-onshore winds. Energy climbs to 251, but the session would be a fight.

The only flicker of hope is Tuesday afternoon, September 24th. Swell holds at 1.2m (4ft) from the East with a longer 10-second period, and the combined energy hits 610 – strong! But that wind is still cross-onshore from the NE at 15 km/h, and the break is exposed to ESE, so the direction’s a little off. Crowds can happen here too. It’s still only a “marginal” call.

The last week of September has the biggest waves, with 1.5m to 1.8m (5 to 6ft) from the NE, but the period is short (6-7 seconds), and the wind just won’t play ball. Even on the 29th, when the wind drops to 5 km/h and goes cross, the swell is still too short to shape up proper.

Bottom line: No standouts. The wind and swell angles just aren’t making friends at Baduska. Better luck next time.

Rusty.
