Alright folks, let's look at what's cooking over the next couple of weeks.
The pattern for the next fortnight is a bit of a rollercoaster. There's some good stuff, but you gotta be patient through the flat spells. The start of July is a total washout. Friday 3rd is ugly with a cross-onshore breeze and weak, bumpy surf. The water is 64°F and feels a touch colder than normal. We have to hold out until Saturday 4th for it to turn.
Saturday 4th at Atalaia (Molhes) is where it starts getting interesting. The morning has a clean, cross-offshore breeze out of the WSW and tidy 3ft swell from the SE with a nice 12-second groundswell period. The afternoon gets even better, turning glassy with the same 3ft waves from the SE. This is a perfect session for a longboard or fun shape, with moderate wave energy (278).
Sunday 5th morning stays glassy with 3ft SE swell, but the conditions aren't as good overall, and the wind starts to flop around. Then we hit a long, flat stretch from Monday 6th through Friday 10th of July, with mostly tiny, weak waves under 2ft and messy winds. Nothing to rush out for.
The real highlight comes later. Put Saturday 11th July on your radar. There's a clean, cross-offshore breeze from the NW in the morning with a chest-high 3ft swell from the ESE and a punchy moderate energy (329). The period is a decent 11 seconds, so it should have some shape.
But the absolute standout session of the whole outlook is Sunday 12th July in the afternoon. This is a no-brainer. The wind goes completely glassy, the swell builds to a solid 5ft from the SE with a long 12-second period, and the combined energy jumps to 705 (strong). That's the kind of afternoon you take off work for. Clean, powerful, and looking superb.
Monday 13th morning cleans up nicely with glassy conditions and 4ft ESE swell, and Tuesday 14th has more clean offshore wind with 4ft. The second week has some promising early-morning windows, especially Thursday 16th July morning with 3ft SE swell at 13 seconds, and that far-off Saturday 18th July morning with a clean 3ft SE swell but a very long 16-second period. That long-period swell will work best at a point or reef, not a beach break. These are exciting but being two weeks out, it's a "watch and hope" situation.
Rusty, out.
