Gravatá (Navegantes) Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a proper look at what's on the cards for the next couple of weeks around Gravatá (Navegantes). This beach is wide open to the ocean, so it can handle a bit of size, but direction is everything.

Right out of the gate, it's a mixed bag. We've got small, surfable waves early on, but the conditions are just ordinary. A bit of rain, lumpy cross-off breezes—nothing to get excited about. That first real window for something decent doesn't show up until Tuesday, September 15th. The morning starts to clean up with a cross-off breeze from the West at just 6 mph, pushing in a 5 ft east swell. It’s nothing epic, but it’s clean and ridable. That afternoon, though, is where the magic happens: the wind drops to glassy, a whisper from the SSW at 3 mph, and you get a nice 4 ft east swell. That’s your standout for the first week—clean, glassy, and the water temp feels about average for this time of year.

The middle of the week gets a bit messy again with onshores, but the real show is building for the following week. Keep your eyes on Friday, September 18th. The morning serves up a clean 6 ft east-northeast swell with light offshore breezes, and the combined wave energy is kicking at 462 (moderate), so there's grunt in the water. But the absolute highlight of the whole outlook is the Friday afternoon, when the wind goes glassy, the swell bumps up to 7 ft from the east-northeast, and the combined energy jumps to a solid 923 (strong). That’s a proper groundswell window, with a period of 8 seconds giving it punchy, lined-up walls. This one is for the bigger board or the step-up. It’s powerful, clean, and has that rare glassy finish.

After that, it drops back to smaller, cleaner slop towards the 20th and 21st, then there’s a gap of a few days with nothing really worth paddling out for—just wind and chop. But hold onto your leash, because Thursday, September 25th is another beauty. The morning is glassy, the wind is off the land from the NW at just 6 mph, and you get a lovely 6 ft east-northeast swell with a combined energy of 509 (moderate/strong). It’s a solid, clean, powerful day that should offer some proper stand-up waves for the experienced crew. For the beginners, that 6 ft is getting a bit beefy, so pick your days when it’s smaller.

All in all, the best of the run is hands down the Friday afternoon (18th) and that last morning (25th). Everything else is just filler. Rusty out.
