Table - best surf conditions forecast for Woolacombe over the next 16 days.
Alright, folks, Rusty here with a look at what’s cookin’ for Woolacombe.
Well, I’ve gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough stretch ahead. We’re looking at a whole lot of flat, small surf for the next couple of weeks. The first real chance of anything worth paddling out for doesn't show up until Wednesday the 22nd of July, and even then, it’s not exactly a classic.
Let’s break it down. From now until the 22nd, we’ve got a long run of poor conditions. The swell is tiny, mostly around 0.3 ft to 2 ft, and the energy is weak – we're talking numbers like 32 and 57 (combined energy of all swells directed here). The winds are messy, either howling straight onshore from the west, or blowing so hard offshore that it’ll be a battle just to get out. There are a few brief moments of clean, offshore wind on the 10th and 11th, but with waves barely reaching 2 ft, you’d be fighting for nothing.
Now, on Wednesday the 22nd, things finally pick up a bit. We get a proper bump in swell, with waves hitting 5 ft from the west. The energy jumps up to 232 (combined energy of all swells directed here), so there’s some real power behind it. The trouble is, the wind swings onshore from the west, gusting to 18-22 mph, and conditions are described as poor. That’s going to be a choppy, blown-out mess, not the clean lines we dream of.
For a beach and reef break like Woolacombe, this setup leans more toward the kite surfers than the paddle crew. The swell is there, but the quality is just not on our side for a traditional surf.
So, the honest truth? There’s no standout session in this 16-day window. The only glimmer of hope is that 22nd, but with that wind, it’s a write-off for a decent paddle. Hang tight, check the charts again in a few days, because in this game, things can change. Keep the stoke alive.
Rusty.
