Table - best surf conditions forecast for Woolacombe over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer for Woolacombe over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I’ll be straight with you: it’s a tough period. The first proper surfable call doesn’t pop up until Friday morning, the 10th of July. So you’re looking at a quiet start with a few days of nothing really worth paddling out for.
For Friday morning, the 10th, we’ve got a small 2ft swell rolling in from the west with a short 9-second period. The energy is weak, sitting at just 58 (combined energy). But here’s the thing – we’ve got a moderate offshore breeze from the ENE, and that’s going to keep it clean. The water is currently sitting at 63°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so that’s a nice bonus. It’s small and ordinary, but it’s rideable for a beginner on a longboard.
After that, it’s a long, dry spell. From Saturday the 11th right through to Tuesday the 22nd of July, the surf is just poor. We’ve got tiny waves, often less than 1ft, and even when the swell bumps up a bit around the 17th and 18th, the wind is either cross-on or onshore, chopping it all up. The biggest numbers come on Saturday the 18th with a 4ft swell from the NW, but the wind is cross-onshore at 15 mph, making it a messy, choppy affair. The energy that day is moderate (194), but it’s not going to be a surfer’s session – more of a kite surfer’s playground if anything.
There’s a glimmer on Wednesday the 23rd of July morning with a tiny 0.7ft, but with onshore wind, it’s a no-go. Same story right through to the end of the forecast on Friday the 24th.
So, to sum it up: the only real standout in this whole 16-day window is that Friday morning, the 10th of July. It’s not a classic, but with clean offshore wind and a little waist-high bump, it’s your best shot. Everything else is a write-off for now. Don’t lose hope though – it tends not to stay this flat for long.
Rusty.
