Table - best surf conditions forecast for Woolacombe over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' for Woolacombe over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – this is a pretty bleak stretch of water for us. We're looking at a long, quiet run with almost nothing to get excited about. The first proper surfable day doesn't even show up until Friday, July 10th, and even then it's a struggle. The swell is tiny, mostly hovering around 2 feet, and it's coming from the west with a short period of 9 seconds, so it's weak and weak. The wave energy is laughable, barely registering (58). The saving grace is that Friday morning has a clean offshore wind from the ENE, so the tiny waves will at least look tidy. But with a score that low, it's really just a chance to get the board wet without any real ride.
The weekend (July 11th and 12th) is even worse. The swell drops off to 1 feet and then 0.7 feet. Saturday morning has a howling offshore wind at 28 mph, which is so strong it'll be hard to even paddle into the nothing that's there – it's more of a windsurfing session than a surf. The combined energy is just pitiful, with values like 11 and 28. Sunday is a complete write-off with 0.3 feet to 0.7 feet of swell.
Then we hit a massive dead zone. From Monday, July 13th, right through to Thursday, July 24th, the forecast is a desert of flatness. The swell consistently sits at 0.3 feet to 1 foot, and even though the wind is often offshore, it's far too strong for such tiny waves. The wave energy is in the single digits or low double digits (like 6, 7, 12) – that's about as weak as it gets. For a beach-and-reef setup like Woolacombe, this is just a no-go. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so at least you won't freeze while staring at a flat ocean.
The only tiny flicker of hope comes on Friday, July 24th. The morning shows a jump in swell to 5 feet from the WNW with a short period of 6 seconds. The wave energy finally climbs into triple digits (119), which is moderate. But it's onshore wind, and the quality is still rated as poor. For a beginner, this is actually too big and messy, and for an expert, it's just a lumpy, wind-chopped mess. The short period means it'll be a crumbly, close-out wave.
So, the honest truth? There are no standouts here. No best day. The entire 16-day window is a bust for paddle surfing. The setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than for a surfboard. This kind of blank run happens here sometimes, but it's a tough pill to swallow. Keep an eye on the charts, it can't stay this flat forever.
