Table - best surf conditions forecast for Droskyn Point over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, checking in with the local outlook for Droskyn Point.
First off, I've got to be straight with you – the next week and a half is looking pretty flat and ordinary. The water is sitting at 64°F which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that's about the only thing that's got a bit of life in it. The swell energy is weak, barely cracking 100 (96) on the first morning, and it just gets smaller from there. You'll be waiting a long time for anything worthwhile.
Saturday the 11th has the best of a bad bunch to start. We're looking at tiny 2ft waves from the west with a 10-second period, and the wind is a clean cross-off from the ENE at 12 mph. The morning session might be your best bet for a little knee-high slide, but it's not going to set the world on fire. The afternoon is even smaller at 2ft.
Sunday the 12th through to Wednesday the 23rd is a real write-off. The swell drops off, the wind swings around, and we're looking at a solid gap of nothing but small, weak, and choppy conditions. The combined energy sits in the low double digits, barely a whisper. There's a few moments of glassy conditions, like Wednesday afternoon the 15th and Wednesday morning the 22nd, but there's simply no swell to push anything through.
Now, hold onto your board, because things get interesting around the 24th of July. The Friday morning shows a solid 7ft swell from the west with a period of 7 seconds. That's a bit of a short period, so it'll be a bit messy, but the energy is there – 408. By the afternoon, it jumps to 12ft with a 9-second period, and the energy rockets to 1960. This is serious, powerful, all-time size. The wind is cross-on from the NNW at 9 mph, which will put a bit of a chop on the face, but for the experts out there, this is the only true standout in the entire 16-day window. The 25th of July Saturday morning still has 6ft at 10 seconds, but the wind stays cross-on, making it a bit of a battle.
For the average punter, save your energy. The first 13 days are a washout. The only real reason to paddle out is that Friday the 24th, when the ocean comes alive. It's big, it's powerful, and it's only for those who know what they're doing. The rest of the time, it's a long wait for a wave.
Rusty.
