Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a proper look at what’s coming our way for Droskyn Point over the next couple of weeks.
Right now, the swell window is open, but things are messy. For the first few days, we’ve got some waist-to-chest high swell coming in from the WNW, around 6 ft, but the wind is a cross-on shore breeze and it’s choppy. The combined energy is moderate (577). The water is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, sitting at 62°F. It’s not really doing us any favours though.
The real standout, and the only session I’d be circling on the calendar, is Friday morning, July 3rd. That’s the pick of the entire forecast. We’ve got a clean 4 ft swell from the west with a 10-second period, and the wind is dead calm, glassy. The combined energy is moderate (335). It’ll be clean, shapes up nicely off that point. This is the one to get out for.
After that, the weekend and the first half of next week look pretty flat and messy. Winds turn onshore or cross-onshore, and the swell drops off hard. By Monday, July 6th, we’re down to tiny 3 ft waves with hardly any energy (101). It’s just not worth the paddle.
There’s another little window a week and a half out. On Monday morning, July 13th, we see a very long period groundswell from the WNW, 15 seconds, but it’s only 1 ft. That combined energy is weak (121), and it's glassy, but you’d be hunting for a ripple. The next morning, Tuesday, July 14th, shows a bit more promise. A 4 ft west swell with an 11-second period and glassy conditions. The combined energy is moderate (375). That could offer a few clean runners on the point, but it’s still a long way off, so keep an eye on it.
The rest of the second week is mostly small, clean but weak. Some cross-off winds keep the surface tidy, but the swell stays below 3 ft for most of it. Nothing to get excited about.
So, to sum it up: Friday morning, July 3rd, is your one clear winner. The rest is mostly a wait-and-see.
Rusty.
