The Lowdown
Alright, let me tell you about the surf outlook for Perranporth. It's been a bit of a quiet stretch, and honestly, we're looking at a lot of small, weak waves here. The first few days, from Wednesday the 15th through to the end of the first week, are pretty much a write-off. The swell is tiny, mostly around 1ft to 2ft, and the energy is really low, with values like 19 to 96 (weak) for the combined energy. The waves are just poor. We get a bit of a clean window on the 19th with a cross-offshore wind, but the swell is still too small to get excited about.
Then we hit a bit of a gap. The middle of the week, around the 22nd and 23rd, the swell drops right back to 1ft. There's a brief moment of glassy conditions on the morning of the 22nd, but it's just not enough to surf. The real action, if you can call it that, doesn't show up until Saturday the 25th. The morning brings a 5ft swell from the NNW, but it's a short period of 6 seconds and the wind is cross-onshore, making it lumpy. The combined energy jumps to 245 (moderate), but the surf quality is still poor. It's messy and bumpy.
The following week, from the 26th onwards, the wind really picks up, with fresh onshore breezes and even some rain showers. The waves get chopped up and the energy drops off again. It's a long, flat run.
So, there's no real standout here. Honestly, the whole period is a bit of a bummer. The best of a bad bunch would be the morning of Friday the 17th. It's a small 2ft swell from the NNW, but with a light cross-offshore breeze, it'll be clean. It's still only 2ft, though, so don't expect anything big. The other one to keep an eye on is the morning of the 25th. That 5ft swell from the NNW is the biggest of the forecast, and it's got that moderate energy behind it. But the wind is cross-onshore, so it's going to be choppy and a bit of a battle. It's a shore break, so that short period swell will just close out. It's really more of a kite-surfing setup than a paddling one.
The water temperature is about average for the time of year, so no drama there.
