Table - best surf conditions forecast for Perranporth over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the next couple of weeks for Perranporth. I’ll be straight with you – it’s a lean run. The whole 16-day window is pretty much a write-off for a proper paddle. We’ve got a long stretch of nothing doing, so don’t be holding your breath.
We start off this Saturday, the 11th of July, with tiny little waves around 2ft from the west, but the wind is a cross-off from the east-northeast at 12 mph. The combined energy is a weak 96, and the call is poor surf. It’s clean, sure, but there’s just no push. Sunday the 12th is even smaller, with a messy 3ft from the north and a short 6-second period. The energy drops to 62, and with a moderate east breeze at 16 mph, it’s not worth suiting up. Monday the 13th? You’re looking at ankle-snappers at 0.3ft. The offshore wind from the east at 22 mph in the morning will keep it glassy, but there’s literally nothing to ride. The energy is a paltry 16. That theme continues through the middle of the week.
Thursday the 16th of July, the swell direction swings to the west, but we’re only talking 1ft with a period of 8-9 seconds. The energy is a sad 21-33, and the wind is cross-onshore. It’s poor. The same story holds for the next ten days. We get a slight bump on the 20th of July – a 4ft north-west swell on Monday afternoon, but the wind is onshore from the west at 19 mph, making it a choppy, blown-out mess. The energy touches 117, which is moderate, but the quality is just not there for a surf. It looks more like a kite-surfing setup than anything for a paddle board.
The 21st of July sees a similar pattern: 3ft from the west-northwest, with a fresh onshore breeze and a lumpy sea state. The energy is 150, but it’s all wind-slop. The rest of the month is more of the same – small, onshore, or cross-onshore winds, and negligible wave heights. The best you can hope for is a tiny clean wave on the 26th of July, with a 0.3ft south-west swell and a light cross-off breeze, but even then, it’s a poor surf condition.
So, the honest truth? There’s no standout. There’s no day to circle on the calendar. The water temperature is about average for the time of year, so no surprises there. But the swell is just not on. It’s a 16-day blank. Sometimes it goes like that in this part of the world. Keep the wax in the cupboard, and maybe we’ll get lucky with a change in the forecast next week.
Rusty.
