Table - best surf conditions forecast for Perranporth over the next 16 days.

G’day, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – the next couple of weeks at Perranporth are looking pretty grim for a proper paddle. We’ve got a long, quiet stretch ahead, with only a couple of windows worth getting damp for.

Right now, the water’s sitting at about 64°, which is a touch warmer than average for this time of year – that’s a nice little bonus if you’re in.

From Saturday 11 July all the way through to Sunday 19 July, it’s basically flat or junk. We’re talking tiny 0.3 ft to 3 ft slop, with periods all over the place and weak combined swell energy mostly under 100 (85 and 62). The wind is a mess – cross-off at best, but often cross-on or onshore. It’s just not worth suiting up. This is a solid 9-day blank run with no recommendations at all.

Things start to stir a little on Monday 20 July morning. The breeze swings offshore from the ESE at 9 mph, cleaning things up. Swell is 4 ft from the west at 7 seconds – not great quality, but it’s surfable. Combined energy hits a moderate 157, which is a step up, but the waves are still very ordinary. By the afternoon it drops right off again.

Now, the real standout – and the only one worth circling on your calendar – lands on Tuesday 21 July. Morning has a clean 5 ft west swell with a 9-second period and a combined energy of 487. That’s moderate-to-strong energy, and the wind stays light cross-off from the east at 9 mph, keeping the face smooth. By Tuesday afternoon it gets even better: 4 ft west-northwest swell, 9-second period, combined energy of 455, with light easterly cross-off breeze at 6 mph. That’s proper morning-to-afternoon potential. The swell direction is true west-northwest, lining up nicely with Perranporth’s optimum west. This is the pick of the whole period – clean, consistent, and you can expect some decent walls. Crowds are sometimes an issue here, so get there early.

Wednesday 22 July morning still has a clean 3 ft west-northwest swell with 203 combined energy and light east cross-off wind, but it’s a drop-off from the day before. After that, it’s back to small, choppy, or onshore junk through to Saturday 25 July.

Then on Sunday 26 July morning, we get a pulse: 6 ft west-northwest swell at 7 seconds, combined energy of 330, with light north-northeast cross-shore breeze. The size is there, but the period is short and the comment flags marginal conditions. It’s lumpy and a bit sketchy – better left for someone with experience, if anyone bothers. By the afternoon it’s gone again.

Bottom line: the first week and a half is a write-off. The real action is Tuesday 21 July – that’s your day. If you can get out that morning or afternoon, you’ll score the cleanest, most energetic swell of the run. Don’t sleep on it.

Stay salty.
Rusty.
