Alright, Rusty here again, giving you the same outlook in feet and miles.
Honestly, mate, this is a tough run. We’ve got a long, flat spell to start with, and most of what follows is messy or just too small. The water temp is running 62°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that won’t matter much when there’s barely a wave to ride.
We don’t get our first real surf recommendation until Thursday, 9th July, and even then it’s pretty ordinary. From Friday, 3rd July right through to Wednesday, 8th July, it’s all poor conditions – weak swells, onshore or cross-onshore breezes, and energy dropping from 335 down to just 61. Not worth getting wet for.
Thursday, 9th July finally offers something rideable. Early morning has a light cross-offshore breeze with a 2ft swell from the west at 9 seconds. Combined energy is weak at 72. It’s clean but small. If you’re desperate for a paddle, this is your window. The afternoon stays similar with an offshore easterly breeze – glassy, clean, but still only 2ft. The combined energy stays low at 68.
Friday, 10th July is pretty much the same story: 2ft west swell, 9 seconds, but with a moderate offshore breeze (12 mph) in the morning and clean conditions all day. Energy’s still weak (66). It’s surfable, but you’ll be fighting for scraps.
Then we hit another flat patch. From Saturday, 11th July through to Monday, 13th July, the swell drops right off – down to 2ft and even 0.5ft, with energy in the 30s and 50s. Not worth looking at.
Tuesday, 14th July morning shows a little pulse: 3ft west swell, 9 seconds, glassy conditions, and energy jumps to 134. Still small, but it’s the cleanest window we’ve had in a week.
Wednesday, 15th July morning bumps up to 4ft from the west, 9 seconds, energy at 207, but the wind is cross-on, so it’ll be a bit bumpy.
Thursday, 16th July afternoon kicks up to 4ft west swell, 8 seconds, but it’s cross-onshore and choppy. Energy hits 286, but the quality isn’t there.
Friday, 17th July morning sees 4ft from the west, 10 seconds, cross-shore wind, energy at 306. Still not clean enough to get excited about.
The best of the whole outlook actually falls on Saturday, 18th July – but only if you’re an expert. The swell jumps to 7ft from the west-northwest, period 8 seconds, combined energy strong at 589. That’s serious power, but the wind is cross-shore at 15 mph, and the short period means it’ll be lumpy and sectiony. This is too big for beginners and a proper handful even for the experienced crew. Conditions will be raw and challenging.
So the standout session? It’s got to be Thursday, 9th July morning. It’s the only time the wind plays nice with offshore conditions and the swell, while small, is at least rideable. Clean, light, and quiet. If you’re after a proper wave, Saturday 18th July offers the most size, but it’s a wild one.
Rusty out.
