Alright folks, Rusty here with a look at what's coming our way.
Well, I gotta be straight with you – this isn't one of those classic weeks where you’re torn between sessions. The honest truth is, we’ve got a really long, flat spell on our hands for St Agnes (United Kingdom). For nearly a week and a half, there’s just nothing to get excited about.
The action, if you can call it that, doesn’t even show up until Friday morning, July 3rd. That first window is the only real bright spot. We’re looking at a clean 5 ft west swell rolling in with a period of 10 seconds, and the wind is glassy – dead calm, just 3 mph from the southwest. It'll be super clean for the dawn patrol, with moderate wave energy pushing through (400). That Friday morning is easily the best on offer, a true standout.
That little pulse fades fast, though. By Friday afternoon the wind swings onshore and choppy, and we slide straight into a flat spell. From Saturday the 4th all the way through to Sunday the 12th of July, it's a grind – tiny, weak swell with poor onshore winds. The energy levels drop from moderate right down to pathetic, bottoming out around 47. It’s basically a write-off for paddle surfing. You’d honestly be better off with a kite if the wind is up.
Now, we do have a late pop in the forecast for Monday the 13th. There’s a solid 7 ft groundswell from the WNW with a long 12-second period, and the combined energy is massive at 1336. But before you get too keen, the wind is howling onshore at 12 mph from the northwest. That’s a classic case of big, messy, blown-out surf. At that size, it’s only for the experts, but with that wind, even they’ll have a tough time. That swell then drops back to just messy, mediocre conditions for the rest of the second week.
So, to sum it up: don't sleep on that Friday morning, July the 3rd – it's your one real chance for clean waves. After that, it's a waiting game, but forecasts can change.
Stay frothy.
Rusty.
