Alright, grab a coffee, let's get into it.
Honestly, buddy, the next couple of weeks are a bit of a write-off for St Agnes. We’re looking at a real dry spell for any decent surf. The first solid recommendation doesn’t even pop up until Monday, July 27th, so you’re looking at a gap of nearly two weeks with nothing worth paddling out for. It’s a tough stretch for a break that can be pretty consistent.
Before that, we’ve got a whole lot of tiny, weak swell with poor wind. A few mornings in the middle of the week, like Wednesday the 15th, it goes glassy but the swell is only 1 foot. It’s flat, not surfable. The energy is way down, barely registering. It’s a real bummer.
Now, the one light at the end of the tunnel. Monday, July 27th looks like a big change. We’ve got a solid 8 foot swell from the West, but with a short period of 8 seconds. The wind is howling from the WSW in the morning at 25 mph, but it’s cross-off, so St Agnes could be blown clean. The combined energy is massive, so there’s real power in the water. But, that 8 foot is a big step up. This is for experts only. It’s not a beginner wave.
The energy jumps even more by Tuesday morning, July 28th, with an 8 foot groundswell from the WNW rocking a period of 11 seconds. The combined energy is a monster. The wind turns more cross-on from the West, so it’ll be a bit bumpy, but the power is there. Still strictly for the experienced crew.
So, for the rest of us, it’s a long wait. Hang in there, and keep an eye on those charts. The end of the month could finally deliver something worth the wait.
Stay stoked,
Rusty
