The Lowdown
Alright, let’s break down the next 16 days for St Agnes.
Honestly, it’s a pretty flat and frustrating run. The first real surfable option doesn’t show up until Wednesday morning, the 26th of August, and even then it’s tiny and ordinary. After that, there’s a bit of a pulse mid-period, but it’s mostly ruined by messy wind. There’s a long gap of poor surf from the 28th through to the 6th of September. The standout is a short window on Sunday the 30th of August, but you’ll need to be careful with the size.
The first chance to get wet is on Wednesday morning, 26th August. It’s small, with a weak 2 ft swell from the west, but the wind is clean offshore from the south at 9 mph. The combined energy is only 63 (weak), so it’s not going to be powerful, but it’ll be clean and glassy. Water temperature is sitting at 64°, which is about a degree warmer than average for this time of year.
The one true standout is Sunday afternoon, 30th August. We see a jump in swell to 7 ft from the southwest, with a short period of 7 seconds. The combined energy hits 818 (strong). The wind is cross-off from the south-southwest at 12 mph, so it’ll be clean. At 7 ft, this is getting into the bigger range, so it’s more suited to experienced surfers. The short period means it’ll be a bit fat and won’t have that groundswell punch.
The rest of the window is a write-off. Thursday the 27th has some size (6 ft) but the wind is messy. From the 28th through to the 6th of September, the wind is either onshore, cross, or too strong. The 7th of September morning has a tiny 4 ft west swell with light wind, but it’s cross-off and the conditions are just “very ordinary.”
If you’re a beginner, wait for the smaller cleaner days like Wednesday the 26th. If you’re experienced, Sunday the 30th is your best shot, but keep an eye on the wind. It’s a lean period, but it tends not to stay this way for long.
