Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cooking for St Agnes over the next couple of weeks. Gotta be straight with you—this stretch is looking pretty flat and quiet for the most part, with only a few crumbs of hope scattered through. Don’t expect much, and you won’t be disappointed.
The first real chance to get wet doesn’t arrive until Wednesday the 8th of July. Up until then, it’s a write-off—Monday and Tuesday are both rating poor, with tiny wind-affected slop that’s not worth paddling out for. Wednesday morning (8th July) offers a brief glimmer: St Agnes (Cornwall) will see a clean, glassy morning with slight air and 2ft from the WNW at 9 seconds. Combined energy is 104 (moderate), but it’s weak and ordinary—still, if you’re desperate and the dog needs a walk, it’s the only window all week. Wednesday afternoon turns ugly again with onshore wind.
Thursday and Friday offer nothing worth writing home about. Friday morning (10th July) shows 3ft from the W at 9 seconds, with light cross-offshore breeze and clean conditions, but the energy is moderate (127) and the waves are just “very ordinary.” Crowds are often an issue here, but with this quality, you might have it to yourself.
Then we hit a long dry spell. From Saturday the 11th all the way through to Thursday the 16th, it’s mostly onshore muck or tiny swell—most days below 2ft, with some longer-period ghost energy from the SSW around 19-21 seconds, but that’s aimed elsewhere and barely registers.
Now, interestingly, the end of the forecast window kicks up some size, but the quality is poor. Starting Friday the 17th July, we see 4ft–4ft from the WNW swinging west, but period drops to 5–6 seconds, winds are fresh cross-onshore, and conditions are lumpy. Not for the faint-hearted.
Saturday the 18th brings 5ft–6ft from the WNW, but also fresh cross-onshore winds and combined energy climbing to 293 (moderate). Still messy and poor surf conditions—this is more of a wind-chop session than clean waves. Sunday the 19th sees the biggest swell of the period: 7ft from the NW at 8 seconds, with even stronger energy at 518 (strong!). But it’s onshore the whole day, making it a washing machine. That kind of size with onshore wind—leave it for the kite crew.
After that, it drops again into Monday and Tuesday with more onshore wind and fading swell.
So the one standout—and it’s a faint one—is Wednesday morning (8th July) for that rare glassy moment. After that, the only other possible window is Friday morning (10th July) with clean conditions, but the swell’s tiny. If you’re a patient soul, keep an eye on the weekend of the 18th–19th for size, but the wind will likely wreck it. Promising? Not really. But forecasts can change.
Stay hopeful, stay wet.
Rusty.
