Table - best surf conditions forecast for St Agnes over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you. It’s a grim stretch ahead for St Agnes. We’ve got a solid 16-day window to look at, but for the first 10 days, you might as well leave the board in the car. The whole run starts with a real quiet spell.
From Saturday the 11th through to Monday the 20th, the surf is basically a no-show. The swell is tiny – mostly under 2ft – and what’s out there is weak, with the combined wave energy barely getting into double figures at times (like 92-14). Water temp is sitting at 63°, which feels a touch warmer than normal for this time of year (anomaly of 3°). But honestly, with that small, short-period slop and cross-shore winds, it’s poor surf all the way. There’s a long gap of over a week with nothing worth paddling out for.
We do start to see a pulse of energy arrive on Tuesday the 21st of July. The swell bumps up to 5ft in the morning, coming from the W with a short period of 6 seconds. The combined energy jumps to a moderate 191, but it’s still getting a "poor surf conditions" rating. Winds are cross-off from the SW, so it’s clean, but the period is so short the waves will be weak and crumbly. Not ideal.
The real action, and the only true standout in this whole outlook, is shaping up for Saturday the 25th of July. This is the one to circle on the calendar. We’ve got a solid 10ft swell from the W, with a period of 9 seconds. The combined energy is massive, hitting 1291 (Saturday morning). That’s a powerful, strong swell. But, there’s a catch. It’s only for experts. That size is way too big for beginners, and pushy for intermediates. The wind is cross-shore from the W at 16 mph, which will put a bit of a chop on the face. Still, when it’s that big, you take what you can get. The crowds at St Agnes are often busy, so expect company.
Saturday afternoon sees the swell drop a touch to 10ft (WNW) but the energy remains huge at 1194. Winds pick up to 19 mph from the WSW, making it lumpy. That’s a full-on heavy day for the experienced crew.
After that, the swell backs off on Sunday the 26th to a still-chunky 5ft from the W, with clean cross-off winds from the SW in the morning. It’s a better size for more surfers, but still powerful (energy 356).
So the bottom line? You’ve got ten days of flat or poor conditions, a slight tease on the 21st, and one major, expert-only window on the 25th. If you’re not an expert, you’re waiting until the 26th for something more manageable. Stay patient.
Rusty.
