Table - best surf conditions forecast for St Agnes over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s get amongst it. Rusty here.
Right off the bat, I’m gonna level with ya: this 16-day run for St Agnes is a tough one. We’ve got a long, flat, and frustrating start. The first record we see is for Sunday the 12th of July, but honestly, there’s nothing worth paddling out for. The swell is basically non-existent – we’re talking tiny 1.0ft waves from the WNW with a short period and weak energy (24). The wind is a cross-off from the East, but with waves that small, it’s just a flat, clean lake.
This poor run stretches all the way through the week. Day after day, we see tiny surf – 0.3ft, 0.7ft, 1.0ft – with the combined energy never cracking triple digits. The wind stays mostly cross-off, which would be nice if there was any wave to groom, but there isn’t. It’s a grim stretch of flatness. Even the “wave comment” column is screaming “poor surf conditions” over and over again. There’s simply nothing to recommend.
We finally see a little pulse of energy around Friday the 17th, with the swell height reaching 3ft from the SW, and the energy jumps to 119 – still weak, but at least it’s something. The period is only 7 seconds, so it’s a short-period windswell, not a groundswell. The wind that morning is light and cross-shore from the WSW, which is the best we’re gonna see this whole period. But even then, it’s graded a 0 out of 10 – poor surf.
A bigger pulse shows up around Tuesday the 21st. We see 6ft swells from the WNW with energy jumping into the 300s (moderate). The period is still short, only 7 seconds. The catch? The wind is cross-onshore from the North, turning onshore from the NNW in the afternoon, which will chop it up. Still, for St Agnes, that’s the most size we’ve seen all week. But with the poor quality and onshore wind, it’s not the standout you want.
The best on offer, and I’m being picky here, would be the morning of Wednesday the 22nd of July. We’ve got a solid 10ft swell from the WNW with a period just creeping up to 8 seconds. The combined energy is a very strong 1206 – so there’s plenty of water moving out there. The wind is light and onshore from the NW, but it's a light breeze. Be warned: 10ft is expert territory. This is big, powerful, and messy-looking. This is only for very experienced surfers on the right equipment.
After that, the swell drops back down quickly, finishing the period with small, weak, and choppy conditions.
So, the honest truth: there are no true standouts here. The best day is Wednesday the 22nd with a big, raw, 10ft WNW swell and light onshore wind. But between the flat start and the poor quality on the pulses, this is a period for checking the cams and maybe a kite if you’re into that, because the beach setup and the cross-onshore winds on the bigger days would suit a kite better than a paddle board.
Stay tuned – forecasts can change.
