Table - best surf conditions forecast for White Plains Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s break it down.
Right now, things are flat and pretty disappointing around here. White Plains Beach is looking at a long stretch of small, messy swell and wind that’s mostly cross-off or cross, which unfortunately lines up with poor surf conditions day after day. The first real shot at something rideable doesn’t appear until Saturday the 11th, and even then it’s marginal.
From Thursday the 9th through Friday the 10th, we’ve got tiny 1ft to 2ft southerly swell with periods around 12 seconds – not enough push to get excited about. Winds are fresh cross-off from the ENE at 18–22 mph, so the surface might look clean but the waves just aren’t there.
Saturday morning the 11th sees a spike in swell energy – a 5ft east short-period swell (7 seconds) rolls in, combined energy reading 642 (moderate). But that short period means it’ll be weak and choppy, especially with fresh cross-off winds again. It’s only for the desperate.
Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th stay small: 3ft SW groundswell with a period of 15–16 seconds, energy between 462 and 790. The wind stays cross-off from the ENE, so it’ll be clean but still too small to get excited about.
Tuesday the 14th and Wednesday the 15th barely improve. Same story: 2ft to 3ft west swell, long period around 15–16 seconds, but energy is moderate (582–700). Winds stay fresh, making it clean but still not really worth paddling out for unless you’re just wanting to float.
Thursday the 16th through Sunday the 20th remains poor. Swell drops back to 1ft–2ft, mostly from the SSW or west, periods between 12 and 18 seconds, but combined energy slips back under 380 – weak. Winds stay cross-off or cross, and the comments say “poor surf conditions” every day.
Monday the 22nd – hold onto something. That’s where the outlook gets interesting. Monday morning the 21st shows a proper east swell building: 3ft at 20 seconds, combined energy hitting 1047 – strong. By Monday afternoon it jumps to 4ft at 18 seconds, energy surging to 1612. Now we’re talking. Winds are clean cross-off from the ENE, so this is the standout.
Tuesday the 22nd keeps a decent 4ft east swell at 16 seconds, energy still strong at 1014. Wednesday the 22nd backs off to 3ft at 15 seconds, energy 739 – still fun.
That Monday-Tuesday window (21st and 22nd of July) is your best bet by a long shot. Clean, chest-to-head high east groundswell, long period, and cross-off wind. Only catch: White Plains Beach is a reef break exposed to south swell east/northeast winds – it can get crowded, and with this kind of clean pulse, expect a few others to be out.
Water temp is 80°F, which is about average for July, so no surprise there.
After that, the swell fades again from the 23rd onward back to tiny stuff.
So to wrap it: don’t even bother before the 21st. The real moment is July 21st and 22nd – east groundswell peaking around 4ft, long period, clean winds. That’s the window.
