Table - best surf conditions forecast for White Plains Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a good, hard look at what the ocean’s got cookin’ for us.
Honestly, the next 16 days look like a bit of a grind. We’re not talking about any epic, headline-grabbing swell. It’s more of a persistent, onshore breeze scenario that’s keeping the quality capped. The first few days are pretty much a write-off, with waves that are either too small or too junky to get excited about. The water’s sittin’ at a warm 80° which feels about right for this time of year, so at least you won’t need a thick suit.
White Plains Beach (Oahu) is the only game in town, but man, she’s a tough mistress. For Tuesday the 7th, there’s a tiny 3ft SSW groundswell with a 14-second period, but it’s getting hammered by a fresh 22 mph cross-off wind. The wave energy is real weak, barley registering a 357 on the combined scale, and all the models are screaming "poor surf conditions." Don’t bother paddling out.
We get a little spike on Wednesday the 8th with some 6ft E swell, but it’s a short-period 7-second wind chop. The energy jumps up to a moderate 586, which sounds promising, but that wind is still howling at 22 mph from the ENE. It’s gonna be a messy, bumpy surface, better suited for a kite than a paddle board. That trend of "poor surf conditions" continues right through the weekend of July 11th and 12th, even as the swell period stretches out. The wind just won’t quit.
Now, if you dig into the back half of the window, it gets a bit more interesting but still not clean. Around Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th, we get some 2-3ft SSW swells with periods around 14-15 seconds. The combined energy is up in the strong range (over 700), so there’s plenty of water moving. But that fresh ENE breeze is relentless. It’s a tough look for a reef break that wants clean, glassy conditions to shine. The models are calling it “marginal,” which is surfer speak for "you might get a couple, but you’ll work for 'em."
The middle of the second week, around July 16th and 17th, shows another pulse of short-period E swell, but again, same deal with the wind. It’s going to be lumpy and sectiony. The energy stays moderate to strong but the quality is missing. It’s a real consistent pattern of wind that’s just ruining what could be a decent run of waves. Long-range stuff around July 21st and 22nd looks a little weaker, with combined energy dropping back down to moderate levels. All in all, there’s no standout day here, but if you’re desperate, the "best" of a bad bunch is probably the July 13-14 period, where the swell is bigger but you still need to deal with the chop.
This is Rusty, signing off. Keep an eye on the charts, because it can’t stay this windy forever.
