Table - best surf conditions forecast for White Plains Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s switch to feet and miles for you. This is Rusty, looking at the local stretch for the next 16 days.
White Plains Beach is a reef break that’s consistent and picks up south swell. The water is about 80°, which is normal for this time of year.
The first few days are a total bust. Wednesday the 8th has some east swell around 6 ft, but it’s just a short, choppy 7-second wave, and the cross-off wind is blowing hard. The combined energy is moderate (511), but it’s ugly. We’re flat through the 9th and 10th with tiny south and southwest swells – not even worth a look.
Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th bring a little life from the southwest, around 2 ft to 3 ft, with longer periods (16-18 seconds). The energy is moderate (739 on Sunday morning), and the wind is still cross-off, so it’s clean but small and marginal. Monday the 13th through Wednesday the 15th is the same story – 2 ft to 3 ft swells, long periods, but nothing to get excited about. Energy is moderate (between 662 and 872), but it’s just not good.
Thursday the 16th morning has a pulse of east swell at 6 ft, but that short 7-second period kills it again. Energy is moderate (895). After that, it’s back to tiny, poor conditions through the 18th, with strong breezes making it worse.
The one real standout is Sunday the 19th. We get an east swell at 6 ft, 9-second period, with moderate energy (676). That’s the biggest of the run, but it’s short-period, and the cross-off wind will keep it from being glassy. It’s a bit too big for beginners, and the short period means it won’t have that long, clean shape you want on a reef. Still, it’s the best you’ll get.
From the 20th through the 23rd, it’s back to small south swells and marginal conditions. The 21st and 22nd have some 3 ft swells with longer periods, and the energy is moderate (up to 818), but nothing is clicking. The wind is always cross-off, so the waves are always clean, but the size and quality just aren’t there.
If you’re going to paddle out, make it the 19th. But don’t expect a classic.
Rusty.
