The Lowdown
Alright, let's talk about it. The ocean’s in a bit of a funk right now, flat and messy, so we're going to have to be patient. It's just one of those stretches. Water's sitting around 79°, right where it should be for this time of year.
The first real crack at it is on Thursday the 15th. We're looking at a small, clean 2ft wave from the ESE with a 13-second period. With that light offshore wind, it'll be smooth and glassy—perfect for a log or a mid-length. The energy reading is a moderate 259, but don't expect any size. The afternoon will likely get blown out, so make the most of the morning.
Now, the one to circle on the calendar is Tubao (La Union) on Sunday the 16th. That's the standout. We're talking a clean 3-4ft swell from the ESE, and that 12-second period is packing a punch. The combined energy jumps way up to 419, telling you there's some real power backing it up. The light cross-off wind will keep the faces nice and crisp. This is the best chance for a proper session during this whole window. Just be prepared for a bit of a paddle with those longer-period waves.
After that, it fades. The surf gets smaller and the wind turns onshore, turning the surface into a choppy mess. Any clean waves in the second week are a long shot, more of a "maybe" than a solid bet.
So, mark your calendar for the 15th and definitely the 16th. That Sunday morning is the one that'll have you smiling.
Rusty.
