The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s on the menu at Trailor Park. This spot is a reef break, exposed to the south swell, and it’s a beginner-friendly wave that’s very consistent. The water is sitting at 70°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year.

The outlook is a bit of a tough one. The next 16 days are mostly a write-off for any quality surf. We’ve got a small window of potential on the morning of Tuesday, August 4th, but that’s about it. The rest of the run is plagued by messy cross-shore winds, lumpy chop, and small, weak swell.

The standout window is that Tuesday morning, August 4th. The wind goes glassy, which is a major positive. We’ll see a 4ft wave from the south, with a period of 8 seconds. That’s a short period swell, but the complete lack of wind will make it clean. The combined energy is moderate at 221. It’s not going to be a big day, but it’ll be the best we see in this stretch. After that, it’s a long, flat, and messy run right through to the end of the forecast on August 18th. The swell stays tiny, often under 3ft, with periods of 6-7 seconds, and the wind is almost always a problem. The waves are mostly too small and weak to even bother with.

For the long-range, the final few days from August 17th onwards are laughably small, with combined energy values dropping to as low as 10. It’s a complete blank. For a break that’s usually very consistent, this is a dry spell. The setup looks more interesting for a kite than a paddle for most of this period.

So, to sum it up: if you can get out for that glassy Tuesday morning, you’ll have a few clean ones. For the rest of the 16 days? Save your energy.

Rusty.
