The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here, let’s break down what’s coming for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, mate, it’s a pretty bleak outlook for Torre. From Tuesday the 14th all the way through Monday the 21st of July, you’re looking at barely a bump. Swell heights are under 2ft, periods are all over, and the energy is weak—mostly in the double digits. The wind is often offshore or cross-off, so it’s clean, but there’s nothing to ride. The forecast keeps calling it “poor surf conditions,” and that’s the truth.
The first real sign of life shows up on Wednesday the 22nd of July. Wednesday morning we get a pulse of about 3ft from the WNW with a 7-second period, and the combined energy finally hits 101 (moderate). The wind is offshore from the NNW, so it’ll be clean. But the description is still “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions.” That afternoon the swell pushes to about 4ft from the WNW, period 8 seconds, energy 195—still moderate, but the wind bumps up to 15 mph offshore. It’s clean, but not great.
Thursday the 23rd is similar: 3ft to 4ft, WNW, offshore wind, energy around 150. Still just “ordinary.” Friday the 24th morning actually has a longer period—12 seconds from the WNW—with about 2ft and energy 181. That’s a bit more interesting, a little groundswell, but the wind is a stiff 12 mph offshore. It’s clean, but small. The afternoon gets messy with 18 mph winds and a short 6-second period; energy drops to 111.
After that, it falls apart. Saturday the 25th through to Tuesday the 29th is mostly flat or tiny, with only a few pulses of about 3ft on Sunday the 26th and Wednesday the 29th morning, but both are blown out by 18 mph offshore winds. The energy on Sunday the 26th morning is 156 (moderate), but with that wind, it’s not going to be much fun.
For an inconsistent beginner spot, this is a tough stretch. If you’re really keen, the best window is Wednesday the 22nd to Friday the 24th of July, with the 2ft, 12-second groundswell on Friday morning being the pick—but it’s still small. No standout sessions here, sorry.
Rusty.
