Table - best surf conditions forecast for Raglan-Indicators over the next 16 days.

G’day, I’m Rusty, and for the next 16 days at Raglan-Indicators, the ocean’s gonna be switching on and off like a machine. This is a proper point break setup, and it’s almost always got something to offer, so don’t let the quiet spells get you down. The water is sitting at 58.3°, which is bang on average for this time of year, so no surprises there.

We kick off on Monday morning, the 13th of July, with a bit of lumpy, cross-off energy. Swell’s sitting around 4.3ft from the WSW with a long 14-second period, giving you moderate wave energy (651). The wind is out of the ENE at 9 mph, keeping it just clean enough, but it’s a bit of a marginal call. I’d say it’s more of a grovel for the patient surfer.

Tuesday the 14th comes in with a bit more size, but the wind swings around from the NNE, blowing cross-on, and the swell goes short and bumpy. Morning sees 5.6ft from the WNW with a weak 8-second period (554 energy) – that’s a messy, short-period windswell. Afternoon is even worse with onshore rain. Give it a miss.

Wednesday the 15th is where things start to get interesting. The morning brings a 6.6ft WSW groundswell with a very long 16-second period. That’s strong energy (2210), but the wind is cross-on from the NNE at 6 mph. The afternoon jumps to 8.2ft and 16 seconds (3304), but the wind goes onshore. This is a big, powerful groundswell – that long period means it’ll wrap nicely into the point at Raglan, with long walling lines and clean shoulders. But it’s heavy, and the onshore wind will mess with the surface. For advanced surfers, it’s a go.

Thursday the 16th keeps the size up with 7.9ft to 7.5ft from the WSW, with 15-second periods and strong energy (2627 to 2356). The morning has onshore wind, but the afternoon swings to a cross-shore SW breeze at 12 mph. It’s a bit choppy, but there’s plenty of juice.

Friday the 17th is pushing big numbers – 9.8ft from the WSW with 14-second periods and massive energy (3484 to 5408). The wind is cross-shore and moderate at 12 to 16 mph. This is a serious swell, only for the experienced crew. The point will be handling a lot of water, and the chop will make it a battle.

Now, here’s my highlight. Saturday morning, the 18th of July, is a standout. The swell is 7.9ft from the WSW with a 14-second period, still strong energy (2234), but the wind is glassy – ENE at 3 mph. That’s dead calm. The conditions are described as excellent for experienced surfers. The sets will be clean, lined up, and the point will be firing. You’ll want to be out there early. Crowds are possible at Raglan, so get in before the pack.

Sunday the 19th holds solid with 6.6ft to 6.2ft from the WSW with 16-17 second periods and strong energy (2593 to 2034). The morning has a clean cross-off ESE breeze at 9 mph, making it another excellent session. The afternoon is lighter but a bit cross-on.

Monday the 20th is still good with 6.2ft from the WSW, 14 seconds (1455 energy), and a clean cross-off easterly at 6 mph. The following days taper off: Tuesday the 21st drops to 4.3ft (645 energy), Wednesday the 22nd to 3.0ft (316 energy), with clean conditions but smaller waves. These are more for a longboard or a funboard.

We hit a quiet patch from Wednesday afternoon through to the 23rd, with small, weak swells. Then on Thursday the 23rd, we get a lift to 3.6ft to 3.9ft from the WSW with 14-15 second periods, moderate energy (547 to 557), and clean cross-off winds. It’s a nice little bump.

Friday the 24th stays small with 3.6ft to 3.3ft, glassy conditions in the afternoon. Saturday the 25th is tiny – 1.6ft to 2.0ft from the W with a very long 21-second period (381 to 454 energy). That’s a long-period groundswell, but it’s small. It’ll be a tricky, slow day at the point.

Now, looking ahead to the second week: Sunday the 26th of July is another standout. The swell jumps to 5.6ft to 5.9ft from the WSW with 16-17 second periods and strong energy (1693 to 1698). The morning has a clean cross-off breeze, and the afternoon is glassy. That’s a beautiful forecast for the
