The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Tairua Beach over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, it's a quiet start. We're looking at a pretty lengthy gap here with no real surf to speak of. From Wednesday the 15th right through to the end of Thursday the 23rd, it's all tiny, grovelly stuff with poor conditions. Don't even bother paddling out for that 1ft dribble. The water temp is about average for the time of year, nothing wild there.
The first real glimmer of hope pops up on Friday the 24th. The morning shows some clean lines with a light cross-offshore breeze, and we've got a small 2ft swell from the NE. It's still just "surfable" though, so keep your expectations in check.
Now, the standout. Mark your calendars for Sunday the 26th of July. That afternoon is looking like the pick of the bunch. We've got a nice 4ft swell from the ENE (10 seconds) and the wind goes glassy. That's a major positive, meaning clean, smooth faces. The wave energy is starting to pump with a reading of 272 (moderate energy). It's not huge, but it's the cleanest, most cheerful window we've got.
The Monday morning on the 27th is also a strong contender, with a 4ft swell from the same direction, a touch more energy (325), and a clean cross-offshore breeze. That's a solid session for someone who knows the bank. These are beginner-friendly heights too, so it's a good time to get out.
The second week drops off a bit. Tuesday the 28th morning has a tiny window of glassy 3ft surf, but it's short-lived. By Wednesday the 29th, it's back to clean but small 2ft waves with a decent offshore wind. The consistency at Tairua Beach is fairly consistent, so it tends not to stay flat for long, but this run is a bit of a test of patience.
Rusty, signing off.
