Table - best surf conditions forecast for Ning Nong Point and Reef over the next 16 days.
G'day, I'm Rusty. Let's have a look at what's on offer at Ning Nong Point and Reef. This is a reef and point setup, exposed to the south, so it needs a good S or SSW swell to light up. The water temp is running about average for the time of year, nothing unusual there.
The first few days are a write-off, honestly. We've got a bit of wind and really poor conditions from Monday the 13th right through to Thursday the 16th. The swell is tiny or junky, and the wind is a mess. You're better off doing something else. The energy is weak, with readings like 284 (moderate) at best, but it's just not worth it.
Now, Friday the 17th of July is where it gets interesting. That morning is a standout. We've got a nice 8ft SSW groundswell rolling in with a long 14-second period, giving it real punch. The wind is light and cross-off from the north, so it'll be clean. The combined energy is a strong 3124, so there's plenty of power. This is excellent surf for experienced surfers. The afternoon stays solid at 8ft but the wind goes a bit cross, so the morning is the pick.
Saturday the 18th is a bust. The wind swings onshore and it gets lumpy, so give it a miss.
Sunday the 19th sees some improvement. The morning has a 5ft SSW swell at a very long 18 seconds, with clean cross-off wind. The energy is strong at 1988. It's a bit marginal for tide, but the afternoon looks better with 6ft SSW swell at 16 seconds, clean cross-off and 2064 energy. That's a solid option.
But the real standout for the whole forecast is Monday the 20th of July. Glassy conditions, 7ft SSW groundswell with a 15-second period, and the energy is a strong 1842. That is excellent surf for experienced surfers. Get on it early.
Tuesday the 21st is also great. The morning has NNE offshore wind with 7ft SSW swell at 14 seconds, and the afternoon goes glassy with 6ft SSW swell. Both are excellent. The energy is strong at 1576 and 1086 respectively.
After that, it drops off. Wednesday the 22nd through to Saturday the 26th of July is mostly a mix of onshore wind and less swell. There's a small window on Sunday the 26th of July morning with a 4ft S swell and clean NNE offshore wind, and the afternoon goes glassy with 4ft S swell. It's surfable, but not the quality of the earlier days.
The last few days into the 28th of July are fairly ordinary with small swell and so-so conditions. The best of this 16-day window is absolutely the 17th, 19th, 20th, and 21st of July. Don't miss the 20th – that glassy morning will be special.
Rusty.
