The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty checking in. Let’s talk about Forestry. It’s a beach and point break, consistent, though you might find a few others out there. Water’s about 59°F, which is pretty normal for this time of year.

The 9th of August is a Sunday, but don’t bother. You’ve got a 6ft north swell with a short 7-second period, cross-off wind, heavy rain, and weak energy (312). Not worth it.

Monday the 10th is your first real option. Morning is the move: 4ft from the north-northeast, 8-second period, and a light 3 mph offshore wind from the west-southwest. Combined energy is 247 – moderate, but it’ll be clean. Afternoon drops to 4ft, still offshore but smaller.

Tuesday the 11th morning is glassy, with a 4ft north-northeast swell at 8 seconds and calm wind. It’s clean but very ordinary. The afternoon goes onshore.

From Wednesday the 12th all the way through to Thursday the 20th, it’s a long, dull stretch. There’s some size, like 6ft on the 14th, but onshore winds ruin it. Energy drops as low as 66 and 46 on the 18th – that’s weak. It’s nearly a week and a half of nothing to get excited about.

Then Friday the 21st of August morning steps up. A 6ft east swell, 7-second period, but the wind is glassy with barely a breath from the south-southeast. Combined energy is 319 – moderate. This is the real standout of the whole forecast. Clean, glassy, decent size. It’s the session to aim for. The afternoon gets cross-onshore and messier.

Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd see more size, but strong onshore winds kill it. By Monday the 24th, we’re looking at 13ft to 15ft northeast swell with a 10-11 second period and 19 to 22 mph onshore winds. Combined energy is enormous at 3040 and 5163. That’s for the kite surfers or the brave experts only.

So, to sum it up: Monday morning the 10th is okay, but the real gem is Friday the 21st morning – glassy, clean, and a solid 6ft east swell. Don’t sleep on it.

Rusty.
