Praia da Amorosa Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright, this is Rusty, and I’m looking at the next couple of weeks for Praia da Amorosa. Honestly, it’s a pretty ordinary run for the most part. We’ve got a bit of a wait on our hands before anything really gets going. The swell and wind just aren't lining up for a clean paddle session for a long stretch.

The first real sign of life comes on Tuesday the 11th in the morning. It’s tiny, just 2ft from the NW, but the wind goes glassy. That’s the only saving grace – it’s surfable, but very ordinary. The combined energy is weak (79). You’ll be on a longboard, just enjoying the peace.

Then there’s another gap of a couple of days with nothing recommended. The next chance is Thursday the 13th morning. Again, we’re looking at glassy conditions, with a little more push at 3ft from the west. The swell period is a sluggish 9 seconds, so it’s not going to have much grunt, but the combined energy is moderate (154). It’s still just a “surfable” day, not a standout.

Now, the best of the whole run, and the only real standout, is Friday the 14th in the morning. This is the one to circle. We’ve got a clean 3ft swell rolling in from the WNW with a period of 10 seconds. The combined energy is moderate (239), and the real kicker is the glassy wind. That’s going to mean clean, lined-up waves. It’s a beginner-friendly break, and with the forecast saying crowds are possible, you’ll want to get out early. The water is 68°F, which is about average for this time of year.

After that, the surf gets a bit bigger but messy. The morning of Thursday the 20th sees a 5ft W swell, but the wind is a strong offshore from the north, at 12 mph. That’ll keep it clean, but it’s a marginal forecast and the combined energy is strong (321). This one is really for the more experienced surfers, as the swell is pushing into the 5ft+ range.

The final call is the morning of Friday the 21st. Swell is up to 6ft from the NNW, with glassy wind again. The combined energy is strong (374). This is a bigger day, over 5ft, so it’s getting too big for beginners. The period is short at 8 seconds, so it’ll be a bit crumbly, but the clean conditions will make it fun for the crew who can handle it.

So, to wrap it up: the 14th is the clear winner. The 21st is a promising but less certain long-range option for the more experienced. The rest of the window is pretty flat or messy.
