Praia da Amorosa in Douro and Minho is an exposed beach and reef break that has pretty consitent surf and can work at any time of the year. Offshore winds blow from the east northeast and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the west. The beach breaks offer lefts and rights and there are also left and right hand reef breaks on offer. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. When it's working here, it can get crowded. Surfing here means negotiating dangerous rips.
