Table - best surf conditions forecast for Secret Harbour over the next 16 days.
Alright, mate, let’s talk about Secret Harbour. It’s a sandbar set-up, exposed to the swell, and it’s been consistent, so there’s hope. But we’ve got a bit of a wait before the real fun gets going.
The water temp is around 66°, which is about average for the season – nothing unusual there.
The first real standout is Monday morning, July 13th. Swell is a solid 7ft from the WSW, with a nice long 17-second period, pushing a heap of energy (2687). That’s groundswell, and it’s going to be powerful. The wind is a clean ESE cross-off, so it’s going to be glassy and clean. This is a proper morning. It’s a bit big for beginners – over 5ft and heading for 7ft – so you want to be experienced.
Then, Tuesday, July 14th is a beauty. Both morning and afternoon are looking clean with offshore winds from the NE and ENE. Swell drops a touch to 6ft and 6ft, same WSW direction, but the period stays solid at 15 seconds. That’s good, clean, shoulder-to-head-high surf with a bit of push. A cracking day to be out.
There’s a bit of a lull mid-week, but then Thursday morning, July 23rd looks like a big one. The swell jumps to 12ft from the WSW, period 14 seconds, with massive energy (5440). That’s expert territory – over 8ft is big, heavy, and not for the faint-hearted. The wind is a moderate cross-shore, so it’s not perfect, but it’s going to be a proper session for the experienced crew.
The last proper highlight is Friday morning, July 24th. Another clean one with a light ESE cross-off, 8ft swell from the WSW with a 16-second period (2793 energy). That’s a solid, clean, powerful wave. Again, not for beginners, but for the keen ones, it’s a morning to circle.
There’s a long gap in the second week, especially from the 26th, where the swell drops right off and the wind turns onshore. Not much to talk about there.
For the best on offer: Monday morning, July 13th and Tuesday, July 14th are your clean, punchy windows. If you’re chasing something bigger, Thursday morning, July 23rd is the big one, but it’s rough and ready. The Friday morning, July 24th is another clean, solid option.
Stay safe out there.
