Sauble Beach Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what’s coming down the pipe for the next couple of weeks. Straight up, it's gonna be a tough stretch.

We’ve got a long, dry period on our hands. After a couple of tiny, uninterested bumps, there's essentially nothing rideable from the afternoon of the 17th of August right through until the end of the outlook on the 30th. That’s a solid gap of nearly 12 days with no surf to speak of, so if you're keen to paddle out, the only window is this weekend.

Sauble Beach is your only option, and it's a marginal one. Saturday the 15th morning starts with a weak cross-off breeze but zero swell energy registered at all (0 energy). The water is a touch warmer than average at 71.4° for the time of year. Later Saturday and all day Sunday the 16th, a tiny windswell creeps in – we're talking 1.3 ft from the SSE with a short period of 4 seconds and minimal energy (5). Winds are ugly, cross-on and onshore, so it'll be messy. Sunday afternoon is even smaller with a risk of thunderstorms. Not a good look.

Monday the 17th morning has the best chance you'll see all period, but the bar is low. A 2.3 ft NW swell with a period of 6 seconds rolls in, carrying weak energy (35). The wind is offshore out of the north, so conditions will be clean. This is about as good as it gets, which is not saying much. For an advanced break, 2.3 ft is tiny and short period, so it'll be weak. By the afternoon, the wind turns cross-shore and the swell drops.

After Monday afternoon, it’s a total flat spell. There’s no swell energy at all from the 20th of August onward. The wind goes glassy a couple of mornings, like the 21st and 29th, which is a tease – flat, glassy water is great for a paddle, but don't expect a single wave. For a place like Sauble Beach, this kind of blank run is pretty normal when the summer pattern sets in. It won’t stay this way forever, but for the next two weeks, save your wax.
