Right then, let's have a look at what's on the table for the next couple of weeks. The honest truth is, it’s going to be a proper test of patience. For most of this sixteen-day window, there’s very little to get excited about. We’ve got a long, flat spell coming up first, and even when the swell does pop, the wind’s going to be working against us.
Looking at Pendower Beach, it’s a sheltered little cove that needs a specific window to work. The water is currently sitting at 62°F, which is about average for the time of year, so you won't need the thickest of wetsuits, but don't expect any tropical warmth either.
Right off the bat, we’re looking at a major gap. From Monday the 6th of July right through to the end of the day on the 9th of July, the swell is practically non-existent. The combined energy is barely registering (0 to 9), with waves struggling to get above 0.3 ft. There’s nothing to ride.
A tiny bit of life shows up on the morning of Friday the 10th of July with a 3 ft swell from the ESE, but the period is a super short 6 seconds, so it’ll be weak and crumbly. The combined energy is still weak at 59, and with a cross-shore wind, it’s not going to be pretty. Saturday the 11th of July sees the swell build a little, hitting 5 ft by the afternoon, but that short period (5 seconds) and a building cross-onshore wind will chop it to bits. The energy is moderate at 119, but the quality won’t be there.
The middle of the week from Sunday the 12th of July kicks up a notch size-wise, but the conditions get worse. We’re looking at 6 ft to 8 ft of swell coming from the ESE, with the combined energy climbing into strong territory (313 to 543). However, that’s all being blown out by a strong 22 to 25 mph cross-onshore wind. The period is still a short 7 seconds. This is a messy, powerful windswell. Honestly, this setup looks far more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. It’s too big and blown out for a beginner, and for an expert, the lack of shape and the onshore wind make it a write-off. This messy pattern continues until the 15th of July.
After that, the energy drops right back off. We get a brief moment of calm on the afternoon of Thursday the 16th of July with glassy conditions and a tiny 1 ft swell, but there’s hardly any push. The late period from the 17th of July to the 21st of July offers a glimpse of hope for very small days, with clean offshore winds (NNW) predicted for the 18th and 21st of July. But the swell is absolutely tiny, only 0.3 ft to 1 ft. It’s clean, but there’s just no wave to ride.
So, for the standouts? Well, there isn’t one. There’s no single day where the swell, wind, and quality all come together. The best you can hope for is waiting for a clean, small day in the very last week, but even then, you’ll be scratching for anything rideable. The spot is inconsistent at the best of times, and this forecast is a classic example of a blank run for the area.
