The Lowdown
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the table for Park Beach. It’s gonna be a slow start before things get interesting later on.
Right now, we’re looking at a bit of a flat spell. Wednesday morning the 5th kicks off with tiny 2ft easterly slop and glassy conditions, but honestly, it’s ordinary and the energy is weak (123). After that, we run into a real dry patch. From Wednesday afternoon all the way through to Sunday the 9th, it’s a mix of poor surf and no real rideable options – cross-shore winds, tiny swell, and just not worth paddling out for. That’s about four days of nothing much to get excited about.
The turn comes on Monday morning the 10th. Finally, some decent news. A clean 4ft swell from the east-northeast with a gentle offshore wind from the west-northwest. This is the first real standout for the beginner-plus crew. The wave energy is moderate (207) and with those offshore conditions, Park Beach should offer some clean, fun little waves. This is your best bet in the first week – get out there early because it’s the one bright spot.
After that, it gets mixed again until Thursday the 13th. This is a big one, but only for serious surfers. We’re looking at a solid 8ft SSE groundswell with a 10-second period and clean conditions. The combined wave energy is strong (1103). However, for a beginner-plus break, that’s too much juice – it’s expert territory only. If you’re not confident, stay on the sand and watch the show.
Water temp on that first Wednesday morning was 20°, bang on average for this time of year, so no wetsuit surprises.
Looking into the second week, Tuesday the 18th serves up another big pulse – 7ft from the SSE with a 10-second period and very strong energy (1515). Again, clean offshore winds, but this is only for the experienced. The size and power will be too intimidating for most. By Thursday the 20th, we’re back to smaller, more manageable 5ft south-southeast swell, but with moderate cross-offshore winds, it’s still a marginal day. Not a standout, but worth a look if you’re keen.
So, to sum it up: the first week is a write-off until Monday the 10th – that’s your golden window for clean, small waves. The 13th and 18th offer serious size, but only if you’ve got the skills. For the rest of us, it’s a waiting game.
Stay frothy,
Rusty
