The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it for this stretch. We’ve only got one spot on the radar for the next 16 days, and that’s Gallows, a reef and point setup that’s advanced territory.
Right off the bat, it’s a slow start. The first recommendation we see is for Monday, July 27th. That means there’s a solid gap of nearly two weeks with nothing good on offer. The surf before that is just messy—cross-onshore winds and choppy, lumpy conditions, with swell energy bouncing between moderate and strong, but it’s all blown out. Not worth your time.
The standout window kicks off Monday morning, July 27th. The wind goes glassy, and that’s a massive positive. You’re looking at clean, smooth conditions with a 4.3ft swell from the east, period of 12 seconds. That’s a long-period groundswell, which means proper shape and energy, but at a reef/point like Gallows, that’s a dream. The combined energy reads 511 (moderate), so there’s enough push for a fun session. It’s a reef and point break, so that long period won’t close out like it would at a beachie. Crowds are “often” here, so expect company, but on a glassy morning like that, it’s worth it.
Then Tuesday, July 28th, is even better. The wind is dead calm—totally glassy—with a 4.3ft east swell, period 13 seconds. That’s a very long period, and the energy is up to 572 (moderate). This is the pick of the bunch. Clean, powerful lines rolling into Gallows. Water temp is 68°, which is about normal for the time of year, nothing weird going on there.
Wednesday, July 29th, still clean with a glassy morning, 3.6ft east swell, 12-second period, energy 406 (moderate). A little smaller but still fun for the advanced crew.
So, the best on offer? No question—Tuesday, July 28th, morning. Glassy, solid 4.3ft, 13-second groundswell. That’s your session. Get in the water.
