Boomerang Beach (South) Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards.

Straight up, this forecast is a bit of a mixed bag. We’ve got some serious size and power coming through mid-week, but the conditions are going to be a real challenge, even for the experienced crew. There are a few windows where it cleans up, but you’ll have to pick your moments.

The standout period is definitely Wednesday the 16th and Thursday the 17th. We’re looking at a big southerly groundswell with a period of 10 seconds, pumping serious energy into the water – we’re talking 1926 to 2975 for that combined energy on Wednesday. That’s a lot of power. The swell will be between 10ft and 13ft, so this is strictly for the experts. The wind is howling from the southwest at 19 to 25 mph, which is offshore. It’ll be clean but incredibly hard to paddle into, and the current will be strong. This is not a day for the faint-hearted. For the experienced crew at Boomerang Beach (South), this is the best on offer, but you’ll be earning every wave.

By Thursday morning the swell drops to 10ft, with a fresh offshore breeze from the southwest at 19 mph. The energy is still very high (1864), and it’s cleaner than Wednesday, making it the pick of the big-swell days. Thursday afternoon sees the swell drop to 8ft and the wind turns cross-off, which will still be clean.

Now, the next real chance for a decent session is Saturday the 19th. The swell drops right back to around 3ft to 4ft from the south, but the wind is light and cross-off, making for clean, user-friendly conditions. It won’t have the power of the mid-week pulse, but for a fun, stress-free surf on a small board, it’s a good option. The combined energy is around 374 to 385 – weak to moderate.

There’s a long stretch of poor conditions from Sunday the 20th all the way through to Monday the 28th. Onshore winds and small, weak swell dominate. The water temperature is about average for this time of year, so nothing unusual there.

Finally, there’s a flicker of hope on Tuesday the 29th. The wind turns offshore from the southwest, and we get a clean 3ft swell from the east-northeast. The period is short at 8 seconds, so it won't have much push, but it’ll be clean and could offer a few fun ones if you’re desperate for a paddle.

So, to sum it up: the big Wednesday and Thursday are for the hardcore crew only. Saturday the 19th is your best bet for a relaxed, clean session on smaller waves. After that, you’re waiting until the 29th for another clean window.
