The Lowdown
Alright, let’s break it down in feet and knots for you.
Not much to shout about at Forster Beach in this outlook, but there’s a couple of windows if you’re keen.
Starting off, Monday the 24th and Tuesday the 25th are pretty rough—cross and cross-onshore winds with lumpy, messy conditions. Not worth suiting up. Wednesday the 26th morning cleans up with a light WNW offshore breeze, but the swell is only around 4ft from the NE, so it’s small and pretty average.
Thursday the 27th is still nothing special; a 5-6ft south swell but cross-shore winds keep it bumpy.
Friday the 28th morning is your real standout. Glassy conditions, dead calm, with a clean 5ft south swell running at 11 seconds. Moderate wave energy (563). That’s a session where you can just enjoy the ocean working for you. Forster Beach is a beginner-friendly, fairly exposed spot, and that S swell is coming from the direction it loves. Water temp is 66°, which is normal for the time of year. Get on it.
After that, it goes quiet. Saturday and Sunday are small and choppy. Sunday the 30th morning is glassy again but only 3-4ft and ordinary. Monday the 31st into September is tiny—under 2ft with cross-on winds.
The second week is mostly flat. Wednesday the 2nd September morning has a glassy 2ft south groundswell, but it’s barely surfable. Everything after that is weaker than 2ft until Tuesday the 8th September morning, where a 3-4ft NE swell shows up with glassy conditions, but it’s still small.
Bottom line: the only real window is Friday the 28th morning. If you miss that, you’re waiting a long time.
