Table - best surf conditions forecast for Forster Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's lining up.
First up, the water temp at Forster Beach is sitting at 68°, which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year, nothing wild there.
The real action is a solid pulse of SE groundswell arriving Friday morning, July 10. We're looking at a clean 6ft of swell with a period of 10 seconds, and the wind is glassy out of the WSW at 3 mph. That's a recipe for very good surf, and the energy reading is a solid 769, so there's plenty of push. Forster Beach is fairly exposed to that SE direction, so it'll be handling it well. The only thing to keep in mind is that the crowd factor is listed as "often," so expect some company out there. This Friday morning session is the standout of the whole outlook – no question.
Friday afternoon though, the wind swings to a cross-on SSE breeze, and the same swell gets a bit messy. The tide might be an issue too, so that window is much tighter.
Saturday morning, July 11, the swell drops to 3ft from the ESE, but it's a 12-second period, so there's some quality. We've got clean conditions with a light NNW cross-offshore breeze. It's a good option, but it's not the size of Friday.
Sunday morning, July 12, sees a clean 3ft swell with a strong offshore wind at 16 mph. The energy is down to 155, so it's weak, but the conditions will be clean. It's a very ordinary, small wave day.
For the rest of the first week, it's a mixed bag. Monday morning, July 13, has a 4ft SW windswell with a short 6-second period and clean offshore wind. Not much grunt there. The real size comes back Wednesday afternoon, July 15, with a 8ft S swell. That's getting into the bigger range, but the wind is a moderate cross-offshore, and the conditions are rated as marginal. The energy is 828, which is strong, but it's not the cleanest setup.
The next real highlight doesn't come until Saturday, July 18. The morning has a very clean 6ft E swell at 10 seconds, with glassy conditions (SW at 3 mph) and a huge energy reading of 887. That looks like another excellent session. The afternoon gets a bit onshore, so the morning is the clear window there.
Sunday, July 19, through Tuesday, July 21, are all smaller and less consistent. The wind is mostly cross or cross-on, and the swell hovers around 4ft to 6ft from the east. The energy is moderate, but the conditions are poor by the afternoon on most days.
Tuesday afternoon, July 21, is a small but clean option with a 3ft E swell and light offshore winds.
After that, from July 22 right through to the end of the outlook on July 25, it's a real dry spell. The swell drops right off, with heights under 3ft and very low energy readings (under 100 most of the time). Conditions are clean in the mornings, but there's just no wave power to speak of. That's a solid gap of four or five days with nothing really worth paddling out for.
So, to sum it up: your absolute best bets are Friday morning, July 10, and Saturday morning, July 18. The rest of the window is a mix of small, clean days or bigger, messier swells. Don't waste your time after the 22nd.
Rusty.
