Table - best surf conditions forecast for Forster Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s shaping up for the next couple of weeks. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, so listen up.
First up, Forster Beach is going to be a bit messy. Wednesday the 8th sees a solid 3.0m swell from the SSE with a period of 11 seconds, but it’s a cross-shore wind with moderate energy (2145) and a cross-chop – not ideal. The water temp is about 20°, which is pretty normal for this time of year. Thursday keeps the rain and the wind from the south, making things choppy and not really worth the paddle.
The first real opportunity pops up Friday morning the 10th. We get a clean 1.8m swell from the SE with a light offshore wind from the west. The water will be clean, and it’s a good chance for a beginner-friendly wave. Saturday morning is also clean with a smaller 1.1m swell, but it’s a bit weak (400 energy) – better for a longboard or a learner session.
Now, for the real standout in the first week: Monday the 13th morning. We’ve got a clean 1.6m swell from the SSW with a light cross-offshore breeze. The energy is solid (709), and the forecast says very good surf conditions. This is the pick of the early run.
After that, the surf goes quiet for a bit. From Tuesday the 14th through to Saturday the 18th, the swell drops off small and the winds get strong, especially Thursday through Friday with gale-force southerlies. The energy is weak, and the conditions are poor. Honestly, you might be better off looking at kitesurfing in that wind – the beach setup and strong cross-offshores will suit a kite more than a paddle.
Things start looking up again on Sunday the 19th. We get a clean 1.6m swell from the south with light offshore winds in the morning. The energy is moderate (562), and the conditions should be good. Monday the 20th is even better – a nice 1.2m SE swell with a longer 10-second period, light offshore wind, and very good conditions. That’s a solid option.
But the real big ticket item? It’s a long way off, so take it with a grain of salt, but Tuesday the 21st morning is looking massive. A 2.5m ESE groundswell with a long 12-second period and a strong offshore wind. The energy is huge (2206). This is for experienced surfers only – it’s going to be powerful and clean, but that offshore breeze will make it hard to paddle into. The water will be clean, but it’s a serious wave. Wednesday the 22nd and Thursday the 23rd are also big and clean, with the 23rd hitting 3.0m and 13-second period from the south. That’s a lot of water moving around, and it’s best left to the experts at a point or reef, not a beach break like Forster.
So, the best on offer? Friday the 10th morning for a clean, beginner-friendly wave. And Monday the 20th morning for a great all-round session. The big stuff on the 21st and beyond is one for the chargers.
Rusty.
