The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here, giving you the goods for Forster Beach. Let’s get into it.
Right off the bat, the first few days are a bit of a write-off. Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th are a messy mix of lumpy, cross-onshore chop with a solid 7ft to 8ft of swell, but it’s just not clean enough to get excited about. The energy is there (1670 to 1084), but the wind is just ruining it. We’ve got a bit of a lull in the middle of the week, but things start to look up.
The real standout window kicks off early on Friday the 24th. That morning is the pick of the whole run. The swell is a clean 6ft from the South with a 10-second period, and the wind is light and cross-offshore from the WSW. That’s going to produce some really nice, lined-up waves. The energy is solid at 712, and it’s all coming together. This is the one to circle on your calendar.
The weekend also has some charm. Saturday the 25th morning offers a tiny 2ft groundswell from the South with a 19-second period and glassy conditions. It’s a true long-period groundswell, so it’ll be super clean but might be a bit straight for this beach break; it’ll be better if you can find a bank that holds it. The water temperature is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
Looking further ahead, the end of the month and into August brings a big pulse of size. Thursday the 30th has a fresh offshore breeze from the West, keeping the 5ft to 6ft South swell clean. Then Friday the 31st sees a jump to 10ft from the SSE with a 14-second period. That’s a lot of water moving (3428 to 3484 energy), and the wind is cross-offshore. This is big, powerful surf—strictly for experienced surfers only. It’s a long-range call, so keep an eye on it, but it has serious potential.
Don’t waste your time on the early week. The standouts are Friday the 24th morning for the best all-round conditions, and the late July/early August window for the big stuff if you’ve got the skill.
This is Rusty, signing off.
