Table - best surf conditions forecast for Forster Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s look at what Forster Beach has cookin’ over the next couple of weeks.
Water temp is about 20°, which is normal for the time of year – nothing fancy.
Sunday morning is the best of a pretty average start. We’ve got a small 0.9m swell from the ESE, a 10-second period, and the combined energy is weak (192). The wind is clean from the W, so it’s gonna be tidy and fun for a beginner on a longboard. The crowd can be a hassle here, so don’t expect a quiet one.
Monday morning has a bit more size – 1.3m from the SW – but the period is a short 7 seconds, so it’s weak and a bit bumpy. Wind is light and cross-off, so it’s clean, but the energy just isn’t there.
Tuesday is a total dud with tiny 0.3m surf.
Wednesday morning gets interesting but messy. The swell jumps to 2.1m from the S, still short period at 7 seconds, and the energy is moderate (438). The wind is cross-off from the SSW, so it’s clean, but that size is too big for beginners. By Wednesday afternoon, it’s 3.0m from the S, 9-second period, and the energy is strong (1367). The wind is a fresh 30 km/h cross-off, so it’s clean, but it’s big, powerful, and short-period – only for the experts.
Thursday through to Sunday morning of the next week is a mess. The swell stays big – 2.2m to 3.0m – but the wind is all cross-on or cross-shore, making it choppy and ugly. That’s more of a kite-surfing setup than a paddle one.
Now, Monday the 20th of July is the real gem. The swell drops to a solid 2.3m from the E with a 10-second period, and the energy is strong (1304). The light NW wind gives you clean, cross-off conditions. The waves will be powerful and well-shaped, but at that size, it’s for the experienced crew only. The offshore wind is a huge win, so the surface will be glassy. This is the best on offer.
Tuesday the 21st is a good one to follow up. The swell eases to 1.5m from the E, still 10-second period, and the energy is moderate (478). The morning is clean with a light offshore from the WSW. That’s a solid, fun size for a confident intermediate.
Wednesday the 22nd is also worth a look – 1.2m from the E, 9-second period, clean with a light SW cross-off wind. Nice and easy.
Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th are also looking good. Friday morning has 1.3m from the S with an 11-second period and strong energy (829) – clean with a light SW cross-off. That longer period groundswell will wrap in nicely, but at a beach break it might be a bit straight. Saturday morning is similar: 1.6m from the SSW, 11-second period, strong energy (730), and clean light SW wind. Saturday afternoon goes glassy with the ENE wind dropping to a slight air, and the swell holds at 1.6m from the S – that’s a rare, clean, glassy afternoon session.
The last few days of the window are small and weak, nothing to get excited about.
So, the real standouts are Monday the 20th and then the stretch from Friday the 24th into Saturday the 25th. The Monday is the biggest and cleanest, but it’s for the experts. The Saturday afternoon glass-off is a special treat.
Rusty.
