The Lowdown
G'day, I'm Rusty. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Forster Beach.
Alright mate, we're in for a bit of a mixed bag here. The start of the period is a write-off, so don't get your hopes up for the next few days. We're looking at a solid block of poor surf from Wednesday through to the end of the weekend, with that southerly wind just wrecking everything. You'll want to keep the board in the shed until things settle down.
We get a bit of a reprieve on Tuesday the 21st. The morning will be your best bet with a light north-northwest breeze coming in cross-offshore, keeping the 5ft easterly swell pretty clean. The combined energy is moderate (623), and the 10-second period suggests some decent shape. It's a beginner spot, so this is a good chance for the learners to get out. The water temp is sitting at 68°, which is about normal for this time of year.
Wednesday the 22nd morning is another nice little window. Glassy conditions with a northwesterly breeze and a clean 4ft, 10-second easterly swell. Combined energy is weak (342), so it's nothing powerful, but it'll be clean and fun for a beginner. The south-easterly kicks in by the arvo and chops it up, so make the most of the early session.
The best bet of the whole outlook, and I mean the standout, is Sunday the 26th. The morning is looking absolutely mint. You've got a 7ft southerly swell with a 11-second period wrapping in (combined energy of 1052), and a light westerly offshore breeze. The water will be clean, the waves will have some proper push, and it's a groundswell so it'll have good energy. It's a bit big for beginners, but solid intermediates and up will have a ball. This is the one to circle on the calendar. The afternoon gets a bit tricky with the cross-onshore, but the morning session is gold.
Following that, Monday the 27th morning is also very good. A clean 6ft southerly swell with a long 13-second period. That's proper groundswell energy (1222). The southwest cross-offshore breeze will keep it tidy. It's still a bit much for the learners, but for everyone else, it's a great follow-up.
After that, the swell drops off and the wind stays tricky, but those two days at the end of the month are the real deal.
So to wrap it up: the first week is a dud. The best of the best is unquestionably the morning of Sunday the 26th of July, with the 27th morning a close second. Get out there for that.
