The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what North Haven’s got cooking for the next couple of weeks. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, but there are a couple of sessions that are gonna make it all worth it.
We kick off Sunday the 23rd with small, clean little waves, but the energy is pretty weak (153). The morning has a slight offshore touch, but it's just not enough push to get excited about. Things are pretty average for the next few days. Monday the 24th and Tuesday the 25th are a write-off with onshore winds and messy conditions. There’s a solid stretch of poor surf here for a few days.
Then we start to see some life. Wednesday morning the 26th brings a bit of a surprise. The wind goes glassy, and even though the swell is short-period at 5ft from the NE, that clean surface will make it fun for a beginner-friendly wave. The energy is moderate (261). Not a standout, but a nice little session if you’re just getting wet.
Now, Thursday the 27th morning is where it starts to get good. We’ve got 5ft of south swell with a solid 9-second period and a cross-off breeze. The energy is ramping up (526), and conditions are looking clean. This is a very good option for the intermediate crew.
But the real standout? Friday morning the 28th. Dead calm winds, glassy as a mirror, with a solid 4ft of 12-second south groundswell. The energy is pumping (634). This is clean, lined-up surf. For a beach/breakwater set-up, that long period might make it a little straight, but with those conditions, it’ll be worth the paddle out. Expect some company though – crowds are possible here.
We drop off again over the weekend, but hold tight. Monday the 31st morning is something special. The swell jumps with a 4ft south groundswell and a period of 17 seconds. The energy is massive (1299), and with a light cross-off breeze, the sets will be powerful and clean. This is expert territory with that size and period, so leave the foam boards at home. It’s a long-range standout, so keep an eye on it.
Tuesday the 1st of September morning is glassy again with a 3ft 14-second swell, but the energy is lower (548). A nice, clean morning for a longer board. The following days drop off in size and quality, with a few small windows of clean surf on the 4th and 6th, but nothing that compares to that Monday.
So, to wrap it up: Friday the 28th morning is your best bet for a clean, fun session on the south swell. But if you’ve got the skill, Monday the 31st morning is the big dog of the forecast – powerful, clean, and demanding.
Stay salty.
