Table - best surf conditions forecast for Forster Beach (Nambucca) over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, let’s check out what your local break is doing.
Forster Beach (Nambucca) starts off with some decent, clean surf on Thursday morning and afternoon. That SSE swell is running 7ft to 7ft with a 10-second period, and the cross-off breeze keeps it looking good. The wave energy is moderate to strong (1026 Thursday morning, dropping to 963 by the afternoon). This one’s for the experienced surfers, as it's over 5ft. Water temp is about average for the time of year. A solid kick-off.
Friday stays clean in the morning with a 7ft SE swell and a light cross-off wind, energy easing a bit (909). The afternoon gets a cross breeze, and the swell drops to 7ft with an 11-second period, but quality starts to slip. The morning is still your best bet.
Now, Saturday 11 July is the real gem. We’ve got a glassy morning with a NW wind at 3 mph and a clean 4ft ESE groundswell with a long 12-second period. That’s a long period swell, so expect nice, well-shaped waves with longer gaps between sets—perfect for the points and reefs here. Energy is moderate (664). The morning is the pick of the whole stretch. The afternoon gets a light cross-onshore breeze, so get out early.
Sunday 12 July sees the size drop. Morning has a clean 3ft ESE swell and light offshore wind, still fun but energy is weaker (219). Monday 13 July is small, with just 3ft on the S swell and a glassy morning. Energy is weak (110). Tuesday 14 July morning perks up a little with a clean 4ft S swell and offshore wind (262 energy), but the afternoon turns ugly with onshore wind.
The middle of the week goes quiet. Wednesday 15 July morning has a tiny 1.0ft S groundswell with a very long 19-second period—that’s a lot of lulls for very little wave. Energy is weak (114). Tough paddling for a wave.
Then the big stuff hits. From Thursday 16 July through Friday 17 July, we see a massive SW groundswell running 10ft to 12ft, with fresh offshore to cross-off winds. The energy is huge (4657 Thursday morning, 3123 Friday morning). These waves are for experts only—anything over 8ft is too much for most. This setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing given the wind and size. Saturday 18 July still has 7ft SE swell and fresh cross-off wind, but quality is poor.
The following week, from Sunday 19 July onward, the surf drops back. Sunday morning has a clean 5ft SE swell with offshore wind (342 energy), a nice manageable size. From Monday 20 July through the end of the period, the swell stays under 3ft most days, with very weak energy. A few glassy or offshore moments, but not much power. The last real chance for a wave is Friday 24 July morning with a 3ft S swell and glassy conditions, but it’s short period and weak energy (136).
So, the standout is Saturday 11 July morning—glassy, clean, 4ft long-period groundswell. The other good call is Thursday 9 July morning for the experienced crew. After that, a big gap of small, weak surf, then a spike of giant, expert-only swell mid-week, then a long tail-off of tiny waves.
Rusty.
