Table - best surf conditions forecast for Forster Beach (Nambucca) over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s get into it. We got one spot that’s the main game in town for this forecast period: Forster Beach (Nambucca). It’s a beginner-friendly beach break, exposed to swell from the SE, which is the direction we want. Water temps are sitting about average for this time of year, so nothing wild there.
The pattern starts with a real thump. Wednesday the 8th kicks off with a solid 10ft SE swell, but that’s way too much for this break – it’s a beginner spot, and that size is more for the experts. The combined energy is pumping hard (2340), but the wind is a cross-off, so it’s not all doom; it’s just too big to safely recommend. That afternoon drops to 8ft SSE, still heavy energy (3615), but the wind picks up and it’s more of a messy, marginal call.
Thursday the 9th sees the swell drop to a still-chunky 7ft from the SSE in the morning. The magic here is the wind: clean offshore from the SW at 9 mph. That’s a major positive. The break will be clean and lined up, but at 7ft, it’s still only for experienced surfers. The energy is moderate (1023), and the period is a solid 10 seconds – good shape. Afternoon stays clean but drops to a 7ft SE swell with cross-off wind, very rideable but not as good as that morning window.
Friday the 10th is the start of the sweet spot. Morning delivers 6ft SE swell with light cross-off SW wind at 6 mph, energy down to 691, and that’s very good territory. Clean, punchy, and now getting into the fun size for intermediates. Afternoon gets a bit messy with cross-shore wind, but still surfable.
Saturday the 11th is a standout. Morning is glassy – wind at 0 mph from the NNW. That’s a rare treat. The swell is 4ft from the ESE with a long period of 12 seconds, energy at 603. That’s a groundswell, and it’ll wrap in with nice shape, but at a beach break that long period can get a bit straight. Still, glassy conditions make it a joy. Afternoon gets a light cross-onshore breeze, but the morning is the pick.
Sunday the 12th brings a smaller clean morning with 3ft ESE swell and offshore wind, but only 201 energy – it’s a weaker day but still fun for a beginner. Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th are small and weak; energy drops into the double digits, with Tuesday seeing only 2ft at best and poor conditions. A real flat spell.
That flatness runs through to the middle of the following week, but then we get a pulse on Thursday the 16th. Afternoon sees a 8ft S swell with cross-off wind at 16 mph, energy at 1713. That’s a solid wall of water, but the wind is stiff, making it a bumpy ride – one for the experienced crew. Friday the 17th stays similar, 8ft in the morning, but the wind stays up. It’s not clean enough to be a standout.
The second week fades away again. Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th drop back to small, weak S swells with moderate wind. By Monday the 20th, we get a glassy morning of 3ft from the E with dead calm wind at 3 mph – that’s a nice little window. Tuesday the 21st has another glassy morning with 3ft E swell, but energy is low (135). The final few days through Wednesday the 22nd and Thursday the 23rd are marginal, with the 23rd offering a 4ft NE swell with moderate offshore wind – worth a look if you’re desperate.
If I had to call the standouts: Saturday the 11th morning is the best on offer – glassy, long-period groundswell at a clean 4ft ESE. The Thursday 9th morning is also a true highlight for experienced surfers, with offshore wind on a solid 7ft SSE swell.
