Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming down the pipe for Forster Beach (Nambucca).
Right off the bat, the water temp is sitting at 67.6°F, which is about 1.1°F cooler than the long-term average for this time of year… nothing to write home about, just standard mid-winter offering.
Now, the first decent window of surf kicks off on Saturday morning, July 4th. We’ve got a clean 5-foot swell rolling in from the south with an 8-second period and combined energy sitting at a solid 503. Mornings are the go – it’s glassy with a light 3 mph SW wind, and the conditions look really clean. This is one to point the car at if you’re a beginner or just want some fun, user-friendly waves. Crowds can show up here sometimes, so get in early if you want a bit of peace.
Saturday afternoon, the wind swings onshore from the SE, the swell drops to 3 feet, and it gets a bit bumpy – not worth suiting up for.
Sunday morning, July 5th, we get a clean 3.6-foot south swell, 9-second period, with a light cross-offshore breeze from the SW. The combined swell energy is moderate at 344. It’s a bit smaller and the winds are gentle, but the lines should be clean enough for a longboard or a fun mid-length. Good for a lazy paddle.
Sunday afternoon we see the swell building to a solid 6.6 feet from the south, period stretching to 10 seconds, and energy jumps to 1155. Winds are cross-offshore at 16 mph from the south – it’s clean but getting punchy. This is pushing into territory where beginners will be out of their depth. Might be a good call for a bigger board or a step-up if you’ve got the experience.
Monday, July 6th, the direction shifts slightly to SSE, and we’re looking at a proper 10-foot south-southeast swell for the morning. Combined energy is a meaty 1727. The wind is cross-offshore from the S at 12 mph, and the surface looks clean, but let’s not beat around the bush – this is too big for this beach. This is expert-only territory, and honestly, with this much size, the setup starts looking more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. Beginners and intermediates, sit this one out.
Monday afternoon it’s a slightly eased-up 8.2 feet from the SSE, but still with a 16 mph cross-offshore wind and 1535 energy. Still too big for most, and the rain on the way doesn’t help the vibe.
Tuesday, July 7th, we get the biggest spike of the run: 10 feet from the SSE, period at 11 seconds, and the combined energy peaks at 3555. Wind is SSW at 16 mph, cross-offshore. Again, this is too big for Forster Beach. Only for absolute experts, and kite surfers will be loving it. The swell energy is strong to very strong, and the period is long enough to pack a punch. This one is a pass unless you’ve got a tow rope and big balls.
Wednesday, July 8th through Friday, July 10th, we’re looking at swell heights hanging around 7.9 to 8.2 feet from the SSE, with periods of 10 to 12 seconds. Energy stays in the 1000–2400 range – moderate to strong. For the morning of Thursday, July 9th and Friday, July 10th, the wind is a light 9 mph cross-offshore and conditions are clean, which makes this a standout window for experienced surfers. The 12-second period on Friday morning is a nice bit of groundswell, which should produce some longer lines, but on a beach break it can close out a bit – still, it’s clean and there’s power.
