The Lowdown
Alright, mate, let’s talk about Forster Beach (Nambucca). It’s a beginner-friendly, fairly consistent spot that’s exposed to the swell, and it’s looking like a bit of a mixed bag over the next couple of weeks. Water temps are sitting about average for this time of year, nothing unusual there.
We’ve got a bit of a slow start, but the action really picks up on Wednesday, the 26th of August. That morning, the wind is glassy with a 5ft swell out of the northeast, and the combined energy is moderate at 353. It’s clean, and with the wind so light, you’ll be getting some nice little waves. That’s one of the better sessions on offer.
The real standout, though, is Saturday the 30th of August in the morning. You’ve got a 6ft swell from the southeast, clean and glassy conditions, and the combined energy is moderate at 341. The swell direction is a bit different from the optimum SE, but the wind is dead calm, making it a really nice window for a paddle.
Now, if you’re looking further out, the 5th of September is a big one, but there’s a serious caveat. Saturday morning that day shows a 10ft swell from the SSE with a combined energy of 1580, which is very strong. That’s way too big for this beginner-friendly beach, and the guidance says it’s too big for the break. The afternoon settles to 8ft, which is still solid and only for experts, but the wind is clean and cross-off, so the waves will be well-shaped. It’s promising but a long way off, so keep an eye on it.
Through the middle of the week, there’s a few days where the wind is onshore or the swell is short and weak, so you’ll be sitting them out. The gap between the 25th and the 30th has some poor conditions, but the 30th morning makes up for it.
So, in short: get out Wednesday morning the 26th, but the best bet is Saturday the 30th of August for a glassy, clean session. The 5th of September is for experts only and a long-range call.
