Table - best surf conditions forecast for Forster Beach (Nambucca) over the next 16 days.
G'day, I'm Rusty. Let's have a look at what's coming up for Forster Beach (Nambucca).
Alright, straight up – the next week and a half is a bit of a mixed bag, and there's a big gap where it's not worth paddling out. The water temp is sitting at 68°, which is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The first real chance to get wet is Sunday afternoon, July 12th. We've got a small 3ft swell from the ESE with a 10-second period, and the wind is blowing offshore from the SW at 9 mph. The wave energy is moderate at 162, but honestly, the conditions are very ordinary. It's surfable, but nothing to get excited about.
Then things go quiet. From Monday, July 13th right through to Wednesday, July 15th, the swell drops out. We're talking tiny, weak waves – 0.7ft to 2ft with energy readings as low as 10 to 15. That's just not enough to push you around. There's a bit of a tease on Wednesday afternoon, July 15th, when a 8ft southerly swell pops up, but it's got a short 8-second period, and the wind is howling at 19 mph. The energy jumps to 638, but it's a messy, marginal setup. This one's more for the kite surfers than the paddle crew.
Now, from Thursday, July 16th, the swell cranks up big time – we're talking 10ft to 16ft, with energy readings in the thousands (1672, 1876, 1361, all the way up to 6495). That's a massive amount of energy, but it's too big. Forster Beach is an exposed beach break, and when it's over 8ft, it's only for experts. The cross-off winds will keep it clean, but this is a serious, heavy ocean. It's the kind of size that'll have you thinking twice unless you're a charger.
The first standout window finally arrives on Monday, July 20th. The morning looks excellent for experienced surfers. We've got an 8ft swell from the ESE with a 10-second period, and the wind is a gentle offshore breeze from the SSW at 9 mph. The energy is strong at 1374, and it'll be clean. This is the best of the bunch for the first week, but it's still big, so keep your wits about you.
Then, Tuesday, July 21st morning is a real gem. The swell drops to a more manageable 7ft from the east with a nice 11-second period, and the wind goes glassy – absolutely zero wind. The energy is still strong at 1144, and it's clean. If you can get out there, this is the pick of the period. The waves will have some push and shape, and the glassy conditions mean it'll be smooth as silk. Crowds are possible here, so don't be surprised if you see a few others.
The rest of the second week settles down. Wednesday, July 22nd morning has a 5ft easterly swell with a 10-second period and light offshore winds from the SW at 6 mph. The energy is moderate at 512, and it's expected to be very good surf. Not a standout, but a solid session.
After that, it drops off again. Thursday, July 23rd and Friday, July 24th have small 3ft to 3ft waves, but the wind turns onshore or cross-onshore, which spoils it. By Saturday, July 25th and Sunday, July 26th, we're back to tiny, weak swell with energy readings under 200. The waves are there, but the conditions are ordinary.
So, to sum it up: the big week is a washout for most, but if you're an experienced surfer, the Monday, July 20th morning and especially the Tuesday, July 21st morning are your best bets. Glassy, clean, and solid swell. The rest of the period is either too big, too small, or too windy.
Rusty.
