Table - best surf conditions forecast for Forster Beach (Nambucca) over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s on the cards at Forster Beach (Nambucca). This is a beginner-friendly spot that’s open to the swell, and the water temp is about what you’d expect for this time of year – nothing out of the ordinary.
Things start off on Sunday the 12th with some clean, small waves – about 3ft from the ESE with a 10-second period. There’s a light offshore breeze, so it’ll be tidy. The combined energy is a modest 240, so not much punch, but for a learner spot, it’s a nice way in. Sunday afternoon drops a bit, still clean, but only around 3ft.
Monday the 13th morning is glassy – dead calm – but the swell’s down to 2ft and the period’s a short 7 seconds. Energy’s weak at 73, so it’s more of a float than a surf. That afternoon the onshore wind kicks in, and it’s pretty ordinary.
Tuesday the 14th is tiny – barely 0.7ft in the morning – and Wednesday the 15th picks up to 4ft but with a gusty cross-off wind and short period, making it messy. Wednesday afternoon gets bigger at 7ft, but the wind’s still up and the quality’s poor. Energy’s moderate at 378, but it’s not worth getting wet for.
Now Thursday the 16th – this is where it gets serious. The swell jumps to 10ft from the SSE with an 8-second period, and the combined energy is a hefty 1046 in the morning and 1618 in the afternoon. That’s strong surf, but for a beginner beach break like Forster, it’s way too big. Only experts should be looking at this, and even then, the short period means it’ll be a bit lumpy. The cross-off wind keeps it clean, but it’s pure big-wave territory.
Friday the 17th stays big – 8ft to 12ft with energy up to 1696 – again, too much for this spot. Saturday the 18th is the same: 12ft and energy peaking at 2979. That’s very strong wave energy, but it’s all on the massive side for a beach break.
Sunday the 19th sees the swell still at 10ft, but the period stretches to 11 seconds, and the wind goes light offshore in the morning and glassy in the afternoon. Energy’s still high (2019 and 1719), but the quality’s clean. Still big, but that longer period will give better-shaped waves for the brave. Not your average Sunday.
Now for the standout window. Monday the 20th morning is a gem: 7ft from the ESE, 10-second period, glassy conditions with a light NW breeze. Energy’s a solid 840, and it’s clean. This is the best on offer early on – manageable size, good shape, and no wind to mess it up. Tuesday the 21st morning is even better for the experienced: 8ft from the ESE, a long 12-second period, and light offshore wind. That’s an 1859 energy reading, so plenty of power, but the long period means it might close out at a beach break – better for a point or reef. Still, for a strong surfer, it’s a cracker.
After that, things settle down. Wednesday the 22nd morning is 6ft with an 11-second period and clean cross-off wind – very surfable. Thursday the 23rd morning is glassy and 4ft with a 10-second period, energy at 653 – a lovely little morning. Friday the 24th afternoon picks up a bit with a cross-off wind and 4ft from the ESE, and Saturday the 25th morning is glassy with 4ft from the SSE.
The last few days trail off into smaller, weaker swell – Sunday the 26th morning is glassy but only 3ft, and Monday the 27th morning is 2ft with a long 12-second period but very low energy (95). Nothing to write home about.
So, the best calls are Monday the 20th morning for clean, fun-sized waves, and Tuesday the 21st morning for the bigger, more powerful session if you’ve got the skills. The big stuff from the 16th to the 19th is for experts only. For the rest of the run, it’s a bit of a mixed bag, but there’s a few tidy windows in the second week. Stay safe out there.
Rusty.
