Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G’day, Rusty here. We’ve got a wild ride ahead at Forster Beach (Nambucca) – a solid stretch of surf coming, but you’ve gotta pick your moments. Right now, the water temp’s sittin’ around 67°, which is pretty close to average for this time of year, nothin’ out of the ordinary.
The first few days, from Monday the 6th through Wednesday the 8th, are pumping with big, powerful swell – wave heights are 10ft to 12ft from the SSE, with energy readings that are just massive (2148 up to 5120). The wind stays cross-off, keepin’ it clean, but honestly, this is way too much for a beginner spot like Forster Beach. Anything over 8ft and it’s expert-only territory. Unless you’re a seasoned charger, it’s best to sit these days out.
Thursday the 9th is where things get interesting. The swell drops to a more manageable 7ft from the SSE, still a cross-off breeze, and the wave energy chills right down to 1097. This is excellent surf for experienced surfers – clean, solid, and with some proper push. It’s the first real standout of the period. Friday the 10th carries that vibe, with 7ft swell from the SE and a light offshore wind in the morning, keepin’ it glassy and fun.
Saturday the 11th is another beauty – the morning goes glassy with 5ft SE swell and zero wind. That’s clean, punchy surf that’ll have you smilin’. The afternoon gets a little messy with a cross-on breeze, but the morning session is prime.
Sunday the 12th to Monday the 13th sees the swell fade quick – dropping from 4ft down to 2ft. The energy falls off a cliff, goin’ from a few hundred down to just 51. Surfable but ordinary.
Now, there’s a gap from Tuesday the 14th through to Wednesday the 15th – small waves, mostly 3ft to 3ft, with cross-on winds messin’ ’em up. Not worth paddlin’ out for.
Thursday the 16th stays small, but then – hold onto your board – Friday the 17th delivers a monster. We’re talkin’ 15ft swell from the S with a period of 13 to 14 seconds, and combined energy through the roof (10926 and 14150). That’s a full-on groundswell, but it’s way too big for this break. Only the absolute experts should even think about it, and even then, it’s a beast.
Saturday the 18th settles back to 8ft to 8ft from the SSE/S, with clean cross-off winds. This is excellent surf for experienced surfers again – your second real standout. The energy is moderate at 1146 to 1850, so there’s plenty of grunt without the chaos.
Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th offer smaller, glassy fun – 5ft to 4ft from the SSE, early mornings are dead calm. Nice for a relaxed session. After that, the swell fades right away into tiny, ordinary stuff from the 21st.
Best on offer? Nail Thursday the 9th and Saturday the 18th. Both have clean, cross-off winds, decent swell size for experienced surfers, and solid energy. The early big days are just too gnarly, and the middle week is a write-off.
Rusty.
