G’day, I’m Rusty, and I’ve been staring at the charts for Mills Point. Gotta be straight with you – this outlook is a long, dusty stretch of flatness and mediocrity. A real test of patience. The next week and a half is mostly a write-off, with barely a ripple worth paddling for. It’s the kind of pattern that’ll have you checking the lineup with a sigh.

We’ve got a few bright spots, but they’re far down the line. The water temp is sitting at a very pleasant 63°F, which is about average for this time of year – nothing to complain about there.

Let’s step through it. From Tuesday the 4th right through to the morning of Wednesday the 13th, it’s a grim run. Swell is tiny, often under 2ft, with weak energy readings – mostly between 2 and 138 (that’s weak to the low end of moderate). The winds are offshore or glassy at times, but with no swell to work with, it’s just a flat, clean ocean. The Thursday morning the 6th offers a brief tease: a glassy 3ft of S swell at a short 7 seconds, but the energy is weak (88) and the quality is just “surfable but very ordinary.” Not worth the paddle.

After a long gap of nearly no surf, the real standout finally arrives on *Friday the 14th*. Friday morning the 14th is the pick of the entire forecast. Expect clean, glassy conditions with a light WSW offshore breeze and a solid 4ft S swell at 10 seconds. The combined energy is moderate (294), and the guidance tells us optimum swell direction is SE, so this S swell is a touch off but still works. The break is an exposed reef, so it’ll handle the direction well. This is a proper session for advanced surfers – the 4ft faces will have some push. Note that the break is inconsistent and often crowded, so you’ll be sharing the peak, but this is the window to be out.

After that, the Saturday morning the 15th is another glassy gem with a tiny 2ft S swell but a very long period of 22 seconds. The energy is moderate (310) and the quality is good, but that long-period groundswell will be tricky – it’ll break straight and fat on the reef, so keep your eyes peeled for the sets. It’s more of a novelty. Sunday morning the 16th also offers a clean, glassy 3ft S swell at 10 seconds (energy 200), but again, it’s a subtle window.

Beyond that, the rest of the second week fades back into tiny, weak, onshore slop. Not worth a mention.

The standout is clear: Friday morning the 14th at Mills Point. Mark it in your calendar. It’s an inconsistent spot that often gets crowded, but when it’s on, it’s on. The rest of the 16-day window is a flat spell.
