Table - best surf conditions forecast for Linda Mar over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s take a look at what’s coming up at Linda Mar.
Right now, we’re looking at a bit of a rough patch to start. The swell is running around 5 ft to 5 ft through Saturday and Sunday, but the wind is onshore from the WNW, so it’s cross-onshore and messy. Surf quality is poor, and the wave energy is moderate at best – around 236 to 450 (combined energy). Not much to get excited about for the next few days.
Monday the 13th through Wednesday the 15th stays similar: 6 ft to 6 ft of NW swell, with short period around 8 seconds, but the wind stays cross-onshore. The combined energy picks up into the moderate range, hitting 605 on Wednesday morning, but the chop kills it. On Wednesday afternoon the swell gets up to 8 ft – that’s getting meaty, but with strong cross-onshore wind at 12 mph, it’s not going to be clean. That’s more of a challenge than a treat.
Thursday the 16th sees the swell hold around 7 ft to 7 ft from the WNW, with period stretching to 9 seconds – a bit more juice there (1081 combined energy). But again, cross-onshore wind spoils it. Friday the 17th drops back to 6 ft in the morning, then a weird drop to 2 ft in the afternoon, but with a long period of 17 seconds – that’s groundswell. Still, wind is onshore, so it’s not going to line up well here.
We hit a real lull from Friday afternoon through Sunday the 19th – swell drops to 2 ft to 2 ft, with very long periods (16 to 18 seconds) but from SW or WNW, and cross-onshore wind. That’s barely rideable, and the combined energy is still moderate but the waves are tiny. This stretch has no real recommendations.
Now, the standout window opens up on Thursday the 24th. Thursday morning at Linda Mar: the wind goes glassy – calm out of the NW at just 3 mph. Swell is 6 ft from the NW with an 8-second period, and combined energy is 532. That’s clean, groomed conditions, and for a beginner-friendly spot like this, that’s as good as it gets. The water temp is about average for this time of year.
Then Saturday the 25th morning sees a 7 ft NW swell with a clean cross-offshore wind from the SSW at 12 mph. Combined energy is 557, and it’s described as clean. That’s another good window, though the swell is getting bigger – still fine for most surfers.
Sunday the 26th morning pushes up to 10 ft NW swell with a 9-second period and light cross-shore wind. That’s expert territory – combined energy hits 2114, which is strong. Only for those with serious skills.
So the best bet? Thursday morning July 24th – glassy conditions, 6 ft NW swell, clean as it gets. Saturday morning July 25th is also a solid runner-up if you want a bit more size.
Keep an eye on that Thursday window – it’s the cleanest surf of the whole outlook.
