The Lowdown

Alright, let’s talk Natural Bridges in feet and knots.

It’s a pretty grim-looking stretch for this sheltered reef. The first half-decent mention doesn’t come until Thursday the 10th of September, and even then it’s barely a ripple.

Thursday morning the 10th kicks off with a light cross-onshore wind and a 3ft SSW groundswell with a long 17-second period. Combined energy is weak at 488 and conditions are marginal. Friday and Saturday follow the same script—tiny 3ft swell, light breezes, and poor quality.

Sunday morning the 13th goes glassy—dead calm, no wind. The swell is a weak 4ft WNW windswell with a short 7-second period and combined energy of 277. It’s small and messy but if you’re desperate, that glass will give you a few clean little rides.

Then we hit a long quiet spell. From Monday the 14th through Friday the 18th, it’s all marginal or poor with light offshore or cross-shore winds and tiny swell. Friday the 18th sees a 2ft groundswell with a huge 19-second period but it’s so small it’s barely surfable.

The one bright spot is Sunday morning the 20th of September. Glassy again, with a clean 2ft SW groundswell, 18-second period, and combined energy of 404. That’s your best chance for some clean, long-period lines wrapping into the reef. It’s small, so not for charging, but for a mellow session on a longboard it’s the pick of the month.

After that, Monday 21st onward is mostly poor with onshore winds and chop. The 25th shows a bump to 4ft but it’s windswell with a short period and a moderate cross-onshore breeze ruining it.

Bottom line: if you’re gonna paddle out, aim for Sunday the 20th morning. The rest is pretty much a bust.
