The Lowdown

Alright, buddy, let's talk Genipabu. This is a beginner-friendly beach and point break that likes a NE swell, but we're seeing nothing but SE and ESE junk. Water's about 81°F, which is pretty normal for the time of year.

From Wednesday, August 12th, it's all poor. Waves around 6 feet, but with a short period of 6 seconds and weak energy (247), it's just choppy mess. The wind's a moderate to fresh cross-onshore, making it lumpy. Thursday, Friday, Saturday—same story, waves mostly 4 to 5 feet, all short-period and cross-onshore. By Sunday the 16th, swell hits 7 feet, energy hits 400 (moderate), but period's still 7 seconds and the wind's fresh cross-onshore. Too big for beginners, too messy for the rest.

Monday 17th, Tuesday 18th, Wednesday 19th, Thursday 20th—all cross-onshore, all poor. The only tiny hope is Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd mornings, when the wind goes onshore from the ESE at 12-16 mph, and the swell period stretches to 8 seconds. Waves are 5 to 5 feet, energy 238 to 307 (weak to moderate). But it's still called "poor surf conditions."

Then we're back to cross-onshore and short-period junk from Sunday 23rd through Monday 24th. Tuesday 25th has a 7-foot swell with 7-second period and moderate energy (373), but still cross-onshore and poor. The best bet is Thursday 27th morning—swell from the E at 5 feet, 8 seconds, onshore wind from the ESE at 12 mph, moderate energy (339). It's the cleanest wind we see, but still not good.

For a beginner spot, this is a total dud. If you're into kiting, the lumpy conditions on the 16th and 17th might be more fun, but for surfing? Nah. The break is fairly consistent, so this blank run is unusual, but forecasts can change. For now, stay home.
