Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fishermans (Rhiw) over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer for Fishermans (Rhiw) over the next couple of weeks.
Straight up, I’ve got to be honest with you – it’s a tough read. For the first ten days, from Friday the 10th right through to the morning of Wednesday the 22nd, there is basically nothing doing. We’re talking a solid stretch of flat, poor surf conditions with combined wave energy barely cracking double digits. You’ll see a few tiny 0.3ft bumps from the west, but with periods all under 11 seconds, they’re not going to give you anything worth paddling out for. The wind is often cross-off or offshore, which is a tease – clean conditions but no swell to work with. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so at least it won’t be a shock when you dip a toe in.
The first real flicker of life shows up on Thursday the 23rd. The morning brings a 3ft swell from the southwest, period a short 4 seconds, and it’s onshore wind from the south at 15 km/h. The energy is still weak, just 27 (low). By the afternoon it pushes up to 4ft from the same direction, period 5 seconds, and energy climbs to 74 – still moderate, but it’s the biggest we’ve seen. The wind stays onshore though, so it’ll be a bit messy. This is a beginner-friendly size, but the onshore wind will chop it up.
Friday the 24th offers a little more hope. Morning sees a 3ft southwest swell, period 5 seconds, with a light cross-onshore breeze from the southwest at 10 km/h. Energy is 57 – still moderate. The wind is light, so it might be a bit cleaner than Thursday. By the afternoon, it drops back to 2ft. Not a standout, but if you’re desperate, the Friday morning might be the best of a mediocre bunch.
Saturday the 25th morning is a write-off: 2ft, short period, cross-onshore wind at 25 km/h and choppy.
So, if I had to pick the one true standout here, it’s the afternoon of Thursday the 23rd of July. That 4ft southwest swell is the biggest of the whole outlook, and while it’s not huge, it’s the most energy we get. The wind is onshore, so it won’t be glassy, but it’s the only session that might offer a few rideable waves. The rest of the time, honestly, leave the board at home.
Rusty.
