Table - best surf conditions forecast for FA's over the next 16 days.
Well, grab a seat, ‘cause I’ve been looking at the charts for FA’s, and honestly… it’s a rough stretch. This is one of those 16-day windows where you gotta be patient, real patient. No true standout session that’ll get your heart pumping, but there are a few clean windows for rideable waves if you’re keen for a paddle.
Right now, we’re lookin’ at a long gap of tiny, messy surf. From Wednesday the 8th through the 10th, the swell is real small – 1ft to 2ft from the ESE with weak energy (36 to 56). The wind’s all over the place, but those pockets of glassy mornings on Wednesday and Friday are the closest we get to hope. The water’s 85° with a normal temp for this time of year, so no need for a wetsuit unless you just want one.
The first real flicker of life comes Friday morning, July 10th. Glassy calm, 2ft from the east with a 8-second period. It’s not big, and the energy is weak (56), but conditions are clean. It’s surfable but very ordinary – so if you’re desperate, you might squeeze a few ankle-biters out of it. Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th, wind messes things up again with stronger cross-on breezes chopping the tiny surf.
Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th offer clean mornings with cross-off wind, but the swell stays small, around 2ft to 2ft. Energy’s still weak (38 to 48). Not firing, but clean.
Then we hit another flat spot. From Wednesday the 15th through Friday the 17th, it’s poor conditions with onshore slop. The period drops right down to 4 to 5 seconds – no quality energy at all.
Finally, Saturday morning July 18th gives us a glimmer: glassy conditions with a 3ft SE swell and a 6-second period. That’s the biggest height in the whole window, but still weak energy (58) and a short period. Worth a look if you’re local, but by afternoon, cross-on wind ruins it again.
Sunday the 19th through Thursday the 23rd just repeats the pattern: small ESE swells between 1ft and 2ft, mostly clean mornings with light cross-off winds, then blown out by lunch. Same old story. Thursday the 23rd morning has a brief window of offshore wind and clean waves, but still only 2ft.
So what’s the call? If you want the best of a bad bunch, Friday morning July 10th is the only true standout for a glassy start. The swell is tiny, but clean. Saturday morning July 18th has the most size at 3ft from the SE, but with a short period (6s) and glassy wind – that’s your other shout if you want a bit more push. For everyone else? Save your wax and wait for the next system. It’s a classic lull – doesn’t stay poor for long, but this stretch really tests your commitment.
