Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, it's Rusty here, and I've got to be straight with you. Looking at the charts for FA's, it's a pretty grim time ahead. I'm not seeing any real swell to get excited about, and what little there is gets messed up by the wind more often than not. We're looking at a long, frustrating stretch with no real standouts.
The outlook for the entire 16-day window is dominated by small, weak swell. The water temp is sitting at a balmy 84°F which is pretty much what you'd expect for this time of year.
We start with a real dud on Friday the 3rd. A tiny 2ft ENE windswell is on offer, but it's blown out by a light onshore breeze and the whole setup is just poor. Combined energy is a weak 72. The afternoon gets even worse. Saturday the 4th is more of the same – tiny 1ft waves and cross-onshore winds. Sunday morning the 5th is a tease; the wind goes glassy but the swell is a pathetic 2ft from the ESE. It's clean but there's nothing to ride. The rest of the first week and into the second is a constant battle of small swell and choppy, cross-onshore winds.
Thursday the 9th morning offers a glimmer of something, with clean conditions and a 3ft ESE swell, giving a combined energy of 112. It's surfable, but it's just very ordinary. Not worth paddling out for.
Saturday the 11th morning has a clean, offshore wind and a 3ft ESE swell. Again, it's ordinary. The afternoons are consistently blown out, with the swell regularly getting torn apart by strong SE winds. We see stronger energy values like 128 on the 11th afternoon and 121 on the 12th, but the wind is just too bad to enjoy it.
From there, it's a long, flat slide right through to the end of the 16-day window. We're looking at days of nothing but 1ft to 2ft swell and onshore winds. The best you can hope for is a quick glass-off, like Saturday morning the 18th, but with a 1ft swell and energy of 24, there's just no wave to surf.
Honestly, for a beach and reef setup like FA's, this kind of run is normal. It can go quiet for long stretches. The forecasts might change, but right now, I'd save your energy. The setup looks far more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer with these winds. Hang tight.
