Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Right, let’s have a look at what’s on offer for FA’s over the next stretch. This spot’s a beach and reef setup that’s fairly consistent and best on a swell from the SSE, but the outlook is pretty lean for a good chunk of the window.
The 16 days kick off with nothing worth rushing out for. From Sunday the 5th right through to Tuesday the 14th, it’s one of those grim stretches where almost every session is marked by poor surf conditions—tiny waves, dodgy winds, and a complete lack of any real energy. The combined swell energy rarely gets above 70 (weak), with most mornings glassing off under a light westerly or offshore breeze, but there’s just no size to work with—mostly 1 ft to 2 ft from the ESE. The afternoons are a write-off with onshore winds and choppy mess. A few mornings on Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th offer *surfable waves but very ordinary conditions*, but I wouldn’t paddle out for those unless you’re desperate to wet the board.
There is a slight flicker on the morning of Monday the 13th of July—dead glassy conditions with a 2 ft ESE swell, period a short 8 seconds, and combined energy of 58 (weak). The wind is dead calm. It’s clean, but that’s about all it’s got. If you go, it’s for the peace, not the power.
The best of the whole outlook, and I mean the only time you might crack a smile, comes on the morning of Saturday the 18th of July. The wind goes glassy out of the east at just 3 mph, the swell picks up to 2 ft from the SE with a period of 6 seconds—still short, but it’s clean. The combined energy is only 31 (weak), so don’t expect barrels, but this is the cleanest, quietest window of the lot for a beginner or someone wanting a few ankle-to-knee highs without the chop.
Crowds are listed as “often” at FA’s, so on that Saturday morning you might have company, but a glassy day with such small numbers usually keeps the lineup mellow.
Water temp here doesn’t come through as unusual—no anomaly flagged—so it’s about average for the time of year.
Honestly, this region is in a dry spell. Nothing over 3 ft appears at any point, and the best I can say is the 18th morning is your one chance for a clean, small session. After that, the 19th and 20th are just more of the same—tiny and messy afternoons.
Rusty.
