Table - best surf conditions forecast for Cudmirrah Reef over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming up for Cudmirrah Reef.
First thing you gotta know: the next few days are a write-off. We’re talking Sunday and Monday with tiny, weak swell mostly under 2 feet and poor conditions. The wind is cross-off or cross, but there’s just no energy in the water. Nothing to get excited about. Tuesday is more of the same – flat, weak, forget it.
Then Wednesday the 15th, things change. The swell jumps to 8 feet on the morning from the south, but the wind is cross-on and the period is short – 8 seconds. It’s a messy, lumpy 8 feet, and the combined energy is strong (1233). It’s not clean, and it’s not really surfable for a good time. Thursday and Friday are similar: cross-on wind, short period, poor quality. This isn’t a paddle session – looks more like a kite surfer’s window if you ask me.
Saturday the 18th stays marginal. The wind is cross or onshore, and the swell is weak and messy. Not worth the drive.
Now, hang on to your board. Sunday the 19th is the first real standout. The morning is glassy – zero wind, with a clean 6 feet swell from the ENE, period of 11 seconds. The combined energy is strong (865). That’s a proper groundswell, and with glassy conditions, this reef will be fun. The afternoon gets a little cross-on but still 7 feet. This is the best on offer so far, and it’s clean. Crowds are possible here, so get in early.
Monday the 20th is another beauty. Morning has a gentle offshore from the NNW, 7 feet of ENE swell, period 11 seconds, and combined energy is strong (1069). The water temperature is about 64°, which is pretty normal for this time of year. This is solid, clean surf for experienced surfers. The afternoon stays clean with a cross-off breeze and 6 feet.
Tuesday the 21st holds clean with a cross-off wind in the morning, 5 feet, and glassy conditions in the afternoon with 5 feet. This is nice, consistent, and clean.
Wednesday the 22nd afternoon is a real highlight. Glassy, 5 feet from the east with a long period of 12 seconds. Combined energy is very strong (1173). That’s a long-period groundswell, and with glassy conditions, this reef will be lined up and clean. For experienced surfers, this is the pick of the period.
Thursday the 23rd sees a 7 feet morning and 8 feet afternoon from the south, with offshore winds. That’s expert territory – over 8 feet, and the combined energy is massive (2308). It’s powerful, but only for the very skilled.
The following days from Friday the 24th to Sunday the 27th fade back down. The swell drops, wind picks up cross-off, and the energy weakens. There’s some clean 5-6 feet on Saturday the 25th with a long period (12 seconds) and offshore wind – that’s a good morning session for the experienced, but the energy is dropping. After that, it’s back to small, poor surf.
So, the standout is Sunday the 19th morning – glassy, clean 6 feet, and the start of a great run. For the absolute best, Wednesday the 22nd afternoon has glassy conditions and a long-period groundswell that will be perfect for this reef. If you’re an expert, Thursday the 23rd is big and powerful.
Rusty.
