Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Hey, Rusty here again. Let’s break it down in feet and miles per hour.
The start of the period is a bit of a dead zone. Nothing worth getting wet for until Friday the 10th of July. Sunday the 5th kicks off with a messy, lumpy 12ft S swell, cross-on winds, and the wave energy is a massive 2996 – strong stuff. Monday and Tuesday are junk, with 8-10ft of choppy, onshore slop. Wednesday and Thursday (8th and 9th) ease off in size, but the wind is still no good. Don’t bother.
First real chance comes Friday the 10th of July. The morning at Cudmirrah Reef goes glassy – dead calm – with a 5ft SE swell. Wave energy is moderate at 593. Water temp is 64°, which is about average for this time of year. It’s not big, but it’s clean and rideable.
The real standout is Saturday the 18th of July. We’ve got a solid 10ft SE groundswell with a very long period of 12 seconds, and the combined wave energy is 2507. Wind is offshore from the WNW at 12 mph, so it’ll be smooth. This is a reef break, and with that long-period energy, it’ll hold a nice line. Over 8ft is expert water, though. The afternoon stays solid with 8ft and offshore breeze. Sunday the 19th keeps it clean with 7ft and offshore winds from the NW, energy still strong at 2076.
Cudmirrah Reef is very consistent, so when it’s on, you know it. But keep an eye out: crowds are possible here, marked as *sometimes* busy.
Monday the 20th wraps it up with a 7ft S swell and gentle offshore wind. Not a bad way to finish.
Your best bet is Saturday the 18th of July through Sunday morning. That’s your window.
Rusty.
