The Lowdown
Alright, let’s talk about Cibratel in imperial units.
So, this spot is consistent, exposed to the swell, so it’ll grab whatever’s coming. The water’s about 66°F, which is right around normal for this time of year.
Starting off on Thursday, July 16th, the morning is the clear winner early on: clean 3ft SE groundswell, 10-second period, glassy conditions with light NW airs. The energy’s moderate (210) and it’ll be fun. The afternoon gets messy with tide issues, so stick to the morning.
Friday the 17th has a clean 3ft morning with cross-off winds, but it’s a bit mixed. The afternoon goes cross-on and drops. Saturday the 18th afternoon is better: 4ft from the E, 8 seconds, clean with cross-off winds. Energy’s moderate (236).
Then a flat spell hits from Sunday the 19th through Wednesday the 23rd. Swell drops below 2ft, weak and ordinary. A few glassy moments, but nothing to write home about.
Now, the real standout is Thursday, July 30th. Morning: 4ft SSE swell, 9 seconds, glassy, with energy at 333. Clean, lined up from the optimum direction. The afternoon holds similar. Then Friday, July 31st is the best of the run: 3ft to 4ft, but the period jumps to 12 seconds, energy hits 315 and 379. Glassy, dead calm. That’s a proper groundswell, waves will have push and shape. Crowds are possible, so get in early.
There’s a gap from the 23rd to the 29th where the surf is mostly poor or ordinary. The 29th shows a small 3ft S swell with cross-off winds, but it’s nothing special.
For beginners, the 4ft stuff is okay, just watch the bigger sets on the 31st. Under 5ft is fine. Best days: morning of the 16th, and then the 30th and 31st of July. That’s your window.
Rusty.
