The Lowdown
Alright, grab your board, let's talk about what's on the menu. It's a bit of a slow cooker here at Centers (Centers). The water temp is sitting at 80°, which is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The next few days are pretty quiet. Wednesday the 19th and Thursday the 20th have tiny, long-period SSW groundswell, but it's only showing 1 ft to 2 ft. The winds are cross-offshore from the ENE, keeping things clean, but there's just not enough push to get excited about. The energy is weak (184 to 289) and the forecast calls it poor or marginal.
We get a bit of a bump on Friday the 21st and Saturday the 22nd with the swell holding around 2 ft from the SSW, and the energy climbs into the moderate range (300 to 336). It's still small, but it's rideable. The wind shifts a bit more cross-shore, which isn't ideal, but it's light. Best bet in this little window is probably Thursday afternoon with the lightest cross-off breeze and a touch more swell.
Then things get messy. From Sunday the 23rd right through to the end of the month, we've got a shift in the swell direction to the east, with periods dropping to just 6-8 seconds. That's short-period, wind-affected slop. The swell height is up to 5 ft to 6 ft, and the energy jumps into the strong range (373 to 789), but it's low-quality, choppy, and has poor surf conditions called out. The wind is a fresh breeze from the ENE, so it's clean but blown out by the short period. This is more kite-surfing territory than a clean paddle session.
The real standout, if you can wait, is Wednesday, September 2nd. The swell holds at 6 ft from the east, but the period finally stretches out to 11 seconds, giving it some proper grunt and shape. The energy is high (792). The wind is a moderate ENE cross-off, keeping things clean. That's the best window in the whole outlook. It's a long way out, so it's promising but not locked in.
The following Thursday, September 3rd, drops off quickly, with the swell fading to 3 ft from the SSE. So, the main takeaway is: the first week is small and marginal, the second week has a lot of wind-swell, but that Wednesday, September 2nd is the one to circle.
