Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
First up, the next few days are pretty much a write-off. Tuesday the 7th through Thursday the 9th are showing tiny, weak swell and either cross-off or offshore winds, but the wave heights are just pathetic – 0.6m down to 0.1m – and the combined energy is barely a whisper (75 down to 10). Water temp is 18.1°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year, so bring a thicker suit if you're even thinking of paddling out. But honestly, there's nothing worth chasing.
Then Friday the 10th comes out of nowhere. We get a solid 3.5m SSW groundswell rolling in with a 14-second period in the morning, building to the same size but 13 seconds by afternoon. The combined energy jumps to 5089 in the AM and 4087 in the PM – that's strong, meaty stuff. Wind goes from a moderate cross-off W breeze in the morning to a glassy offshore SW light air in the afternoon. Conditions are clean, and the surf report says it's excellent for experienced surfers. This is a reef break that's inconsistent and advanced, so when it fires like this, it's a proper treat. Keep in mind the swell direction is SSW, not the optimum ESE, but the size and quality make up for it. The crowds can show up sometimes, but on a Friday with this size (over 2.5m), it's expert territory only. This is your standout window – Friday afternoon especially, with those offshore conditions.
Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th turn messy. Saturday morning has heavy rain and a cross-on ESE wind at 25 km/h, with 2.3m SSW swell and a period of 12 seconds. Energy still high (2023), but the wind kills it. By afternoon it's still cross-on with 2.5m S swell and 12 seconds – marginal at best. Sunday morning offers a brief window of onshore NE light airs and 1.5m SSW swell, but the score is low. Sunday afternoon gets choppy again with cross-on E winds. No good.
Monday the 13th through Wednesday the 15th are a mix of onshore winds and moderate swell, but the scores stay poor or marginal. Swell sizes between 1.7m and 2.0m, period around 9–10 seconds, energy moderate (800–900 range). Winds are mostly onshore or cross-on, sometimes clean but with very strong winds like 60 km/h on Wednesday afternoon – that's near gale, not surfing weather.
Thursday the 16th has strong cross-off W winds (50 km/h) and 1.2–1.1m swell, but despite being clean, the energy is low (306 and 250) and the scores are zero. Friday the 17th is small and onshore. Saturday the 18th morning shows a glimmer: 1.1m SSW swell with a 12-second period, light onshore NNE breeze, energy 785 – score 2, marginal. But Saturday afternoon turns to 2.4m E swell with a short 8-second period and cross-on E winds – messy, strong energy (1707) but poor quality.
Now Sunday the 19th afternoon – this is another standout, but further out. We get 1.0m S swell with a long 15-second period, offshore WSW wind at 15 km/h, and the report says "expect very good surf conditions." Energy is 679 (moderate). The break is a reef, so that long period will wrap in nicely. Crowds might be around, but the conditions should be clean and the size is user-friendly for advanced surfers – under 1.5m so it's okay for strong intermediates too, though this break is rated advanced. Mark your calendar for Sunday the 19th afternoon.
From Monday the 20th onward, it fades again. Small swells, cross-on winds, low energy. Tuesday the 22nd has some cross-off wind but tiny 0.4m swell with a 17-second period – just not enough push.
So in a nutshell: the first few days are dead, then Friday the 10th is the big one if you're an expert. The second week has Sunday the 19th afternoon as a nice, clean, long-period swell with offshore wind. Everything else is a pass. Stay patient, and keep an eye on that Sunday slot.
