Table - best surf conditions forecast for Bruces Beauties over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s lining up for us over the next couple of weeks.
We’ve got one main spot on the radar: Bruces Beauties (reef). It’s an exposed reef break that needs a solid push from the ESE direction to be at its best, and it’s an inconsistent setup – so when it fires, you’ve gotta be on it. The water temp is sitting at about 65°, which is roughly 1° cooler than average for this time of year – nothing too wild, pretty standard.
The first real call to action is Friday the 10th of July. Early morning we’ve got a solid 12 ft SSW swell rolling in, with a period of 13 seconds – that’s groundswell, lots of energy (combined energy of 4121). Wind is a moderate cross-off from the WSW, keeping things clean. This is big stuff, over 8 ft, so this is strictly for experienced surfers. Friday afternoon stays similar at 12 ft, still clean, with a light breeze. This is the standout window: big, powerful, and clean. Expect crowds here sometimes – it’s an inconsistent spot, so when it’s on, locals know.
Saturday the 11th drops off quick. Swell backs down to 10 ft but the wind swings cross-on from the ENE, getting messy. Not the day. Sunday the 12th is even worse – lumpy, choppy, poor.
We hit a dry spell from there. Monday the 13th through to Friday the 17th of July is pretty ordinary – small waves, mixed directions, nothing worth paddling out for. There’s a little clean window Monday afternoon with 4 ft SSW swell and glassy conditions, but it’s weak (energy 519). Not a standout.
Then things get interesting again on Saturday the 18th of July. Early morning we get glassy conditions, a 5 ft S swell with a 12-second period, and clean faces. Combined energy is 670 – moderate, but the glassy wind makes it a really pleasant session. Still, at 5 ft, it’s mellow enough for most.
The following week sees a few small clean windows, but nothing huge. Tuesday the 21st of July brings a 7 ft SSW swell but onshore winds ruin it. Then Wednesday the 22nd sees a bigger 8 ft SSW groundswell (period 13 seconds) with strong cross-off winds. That’s borderline for experts only at over 7 ft, but it’s clean – worth watching if you’re keen for a challenge, though the wind is strong (22-25 mph).
Finally, Friday the 24th of July early morning throws up a 10 ft SSW swell with a 14-second period, combined energy of 4139 – huge. Light cross-shore wind, so it could be rideable for the brave, but 10 ft is serious, expert-only territory.
The real standouts? Friday the 10th – morning and afternoon for the biggest, cleanest groundswell. And Saturday the 18th morning for a glassy, smaller session that’s more welcoming.
Be patient – this spot is inconsistent, but when it lines up, it’s worth it.
Rusty.
