Table - best surf conditions forecast for Bruces Beauties over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s see what’s coming up for this spot. The first nine days or so are a real mixed bag, with a lot of days you’d be better off staying home. The standout window is later in the period, and it’s the one that’s got my attention.
The forecast starts with a long gap. There’s nothing worthwhile on offer until Friday, July 10th. For the first few days, it’s flat or tiny, with a little 0.3ft SE swell on Thursday, July 9th – not worth a paddle. The water’s a bit colder than average for this time of year, sitting at 64°F.
Okay, Friday, July 10th, things start to get interesting. A solid 12ft SSW swell (13 second period) rolls in for the morning. It’s a big one, definitely expert territory, with a combined energy of 4016. The wind is cross-off, so it’ll be clean. But the real highlight is Friday afternoon: the swell drops to 10ft, still from the SSW (13 seconds), and the wind goes light offshore from the SW – that’s magic. The energy is still massive at 3496, and the conditions are described as excellent for experienced surfers. This is the first true standout of the period. The crowds are listed as “sometimes” at Bruces Beauties, so you might have a few others out, but with that size and power, it’ll thin out.
Saturday, July 11th, the swell hangs around 10ft in the morning but drops to 8ft in the afternoon. The wind shifts cross-onshore, making it choppy and messy. The energy is still high (2346 and 1924), but the quality is gone. Sunday, July 12th, through to Thursday, July 16th, is a write-off. The swell drops, the wind is poor, and the energy is weak. It’s a long stretch of nothing.
The next possible window opens Monday, July 20th. The morning is only marginal with a 6ft E swell, but the afternoon is the real keeper. The swell drops slightly to 6ft from the E (10 seconds), but the wind goes light offshore from the SW, the energy is moderate at 634, and the forecast says “expect very good surf conditions.” This is a smaller, cleaner option that’s a lot more accessible than the earlier big swell.
Then, Tuesday, July 21st, brings another solid pulse. A 7ft SSW swell in the morning builds to 7ft in the afternoon, with a very long period of 15 seconds dropping to 14 seconds. That’s groundswell, and it’s going to have some serious push. The afternoon wind is offshore from the SW, and the energy is high at 2266. The conditions are described as excellent for experienced surfers. This is the second standout – a proper, heavy, clean swell.
Wednesday, July 22nd, the morning is a bit messy with a 7ft E swell, but the afternoon is worth noting: a 8ft SSW swell with a very long 16-second period, energy of 4218, and clean cross-off winds. It’s a big one, but the wind is good. Thursday, July 23rd, holds another 7ft SSW swell at 14 seconds and clean conditions, but by the afternoon, the wind turns cross and the energy drops. The rest of the period into Friday, July 24th, fades out with poor quality.
So, the two standouts are Friday afternoon, July 10th, with that 10ft clean SSW swell, and Tuesday afternoon, July 21st, with the 7ft clean SSW groundswell. Both are for experienced surfers only. The smaller, cleaner option on Monday afternoon, July 20th, is a good one for the more average surfer.
