Table - best surf conditions forecast for Bruces Beauties over the next 16 days.
Alright, mate, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' for our little corner of the world.
We've got a bit of a slow start on the cards. The first solid shot of surf isn't until the morning of the 12th, so Thursday and Friday are lookin' pretty flat and quiet. But don't you worry, because the following week has a few moments that'll get your heart pumping.
So, the first real chance to get wet comes Sunday, July 12th in the morning. It's not going to be perfect, but there's some push. We're looking at a 6ft SSW swell, which is a decent little groundswell with a 12-second period bringing moderate wave energy (1169). The wind is light onshore from the ENE, which keeps things from being too clean. It'll be a bit of a chore to find a good line, but there's enough there to get a few if you're keen.
The standout of the whole forecast is absolutely Tuesday the 14th. Two sessions here are the real deal. Tuesday morning is where it's at – a clean 5ft ESE swell with that sweet cross-offshore breeze from the WNW. The wave energy is moderate (548), but with those conditions, Bruces Beauties is going to be looking absolutely mint. Then Tuesday afternoon the wind goes clean offshore from the SW with a 5ft E swell (474). It's gonna be a glassy, clean, proper reef wave. This is the session you want to plan for.
The water temp is sitting around 66°, which is just about normal for this time of year. Nothing dramatic there, a standard winter water temp.
Now, for the brave souls. On Sunday, July 19th, we get a bigger pulse. The afternoon session is a monster for the experienced crew – an 8ft E swell (1741) and the wind goes dead glassy, calm as a lake. That'll be a heavy, clean, powerful wave. This is not for beginners. The swell is pushing over 8ft, so only for the experts. The period is a short 9 seconds though, so it'll be a bit lumpy and more of a challenge to get into.
The following week, Monday July 20th, keeps the energy going. The afternoon session there has a clean 6ft E swell with a moderate offshore breeze (874). It's not the top pick, but a very solid, clean option.
And for a real dark horse, check out Sunday, July 26th. The afternoon session looks like a beautiful, glassy little long-period groundswell – a 3ft S swell with a very long 14-second period and glassy wind (602). It won't be big, but on a reef, that long period will wrap in perfectly. The morning is glassy too with a 3ft S swell. A promising way to finish the forecast window, but it's far out so keep your fingers crossed.
Crowds at Bruces Beauties can be an issue sometimes, so on those glassy, clean days, especially the 14th and 19th, expect company.
So, the headline is this: Don't bother paddling out until the 12th. But clear your Tuesday the 14th and that Sunday the 19th afternoon session. The 14th is the all-round winner for clean, fun waves. The 19th is the big, glassy, heavy one for the crew with the big ones.
Rusty.
