Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, let me level with you. Bradley Beach is in a rough patch for the next couple of weeks. The truth is, there’s just no good surf on the horizon.
The water temp is about 73°, which is a touch warmer than normal for July, but that’s the only highlight.
Right now, starting Monday the 6th, we’ve got tiny 3 to 4 ft swell out of the ESE with a super short period of 4 to 6 seconds. The wind is onshore and the energy is weak. It’s choppy and no fun. That continues through Tuesday and Wednesday with the same story: small, weak waves and cross-onshore winds keeping it messy.
Thursday morning the 9th finally gives us a bit of cleaner air with a cross-offshore breeze, but the swell is a pathetic 2 ft. It’s surfable, just barely, but very ordinary. Friday the 10th is a little better with an offshore wind out of the west cleaning things up, but again it’s on a tiny 1 ft south swell. You’d need a longboard and a lot of patience. The energy is only 45.
Then the weekend goes downhill again with onshore winds and poor surf all the way through Sunday the 12th.
Now, Monday the 13th of July is interesting in a nasty way. We get a big pulse of swell, 8 to 10 ft from the east, with a ton of energy behind it, 639 to 1132. But the wind is howling onshore at 30 mph. For a beach break like this, that means big, stormy, blown-out walls. This isn’t for paddle surfing—this is kite-surfing territory. Only experts should even look at it, and the quality is marked as poor.
After that, the second week is flat and quiet. We get a glassy morning on Wednesday the 15th, but the swell is only 1 ft. The best of the whole period is probably that Wednesday afternoon with a clean offshore breeze and 2 ft from the south, but it’s still only knee-high. The rest of the days from the 16th onward are more of the same: tiny south swells, mixed winds, and very poor conditions.
There are no real standouts here. It’s a long, flat, quiet run for Bradley Beach. If you’re hoping for a wave, you’ll be waiting for a change in the forecast. For now, keep the board stored and the wax in the wrapper.
Rusty.
