Table - best surf conditions forecast for Bicentenial Park over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you: this outlook for Bicentennial Park is a tough one. I’ve looked at the charts and I gotta say, we are staring at a blank run for the entire 16-day period. There’s simply nothing good on offer. Every single window, from now all the way through to Sunday the 26th of July, is flagged as "poor surf conditions." That’s a long stretch of flat and messy water.
The problem is a complete lack of any real push. The combined swell energy is weak across the board – we’re talking a maximum of just 45 (moderate wave energy) late on the 14th, but mostly it’s hanging around the mid-20s to low teens, showing very weak wave energy. The swell height barely breaks 2 ft, and it’s coming from the ESE with a short 8-second period, which means the waves are weak, soft, and mushy. For a spot that’s exposed to the east, this is just a sad little dribble.
The only silver lining is that when the wind does swing offshore from the WSW or W, mainly on a few mornings, it goes glassy or clean. The morning of Saturday the 11th, Sunday the 12th, Tuesday the 14th, and then a few mornings in the second week like Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th, you’ll get clean water with no wind. But even then, you’re looking at 0.7 ft to 1 ft of weak, short-period slop. It’s ankle to knee-high, gutless and not worth paddling out for.
There are no standouts here, no hidden gems. If you’re a beginner, the tiny swell and occasional glassy conditions might be okay for a splash, but for anyone wanting a proper wave, this is a stay-at-home kind of forecast. The water temperature at the start is a balmy 84°, feeling about average for this time of year. The break itself is a reef, and it’s inconsistent and always crowded when there’s any bump – but right now, that won't be a problem.
Given the persistent small surf and onshore breezes on most afternoons, this setup is honestly more interesting for kite surfers than paddle surfers, especially when the SE wind picks up in the afternoon.
I hate to say it, but this is about as bleak as it gets. Better luck next time.
Rusty.
