Table - best surf conditions forecast for Ansteys over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s break down what’s headed for Ansteys.
Honestly, from today, Friday the 10th, right through to the end of this outlook, it’s a long, dry stretch. The first real glimmer of a wave doesn’t show until Wednesday the 22nd – that’s more than a week of no-good. So, you’ve been warned.
Forget Friday the 10th. There’s a 7ft south swell but the wind is honking from the south at 12 mph, cross-on, and the water’s at 72°F – pretty average for this time of year. The combined energy is strong (1886), but the waves are a complete mess. No one wants to be out there.
From Saturday the 11th to Tuesday the 21st, it’s a slog. The swell hangs between 3ft and 6ft, winds swap from south to north, but it’s always cross or cross-on. Energy sits in the moderate range (328 to 722), but every session is rated marginal or poor. You’re better off doing a beach clean-up. Thursday the 16th morning has a little 5ft east swell with a light offshore from the SE, clean but small – still nothing to rush for.
Now, Wednesday the 22nd is your window. We get a 6ft south swell, short period around 8 seconds, but the wind turns light NNE at 9 mph – cross-offshore and clean. The energy is moderate (747), and the forecast says “expect very good surf conditions”. This is the one. Ansteys faces east and is inconsistent, so when it lines up like this, it’s a rare treat.
Thursday the 23rd morning gives you a 5ft south swell with the same light offshore, but the energy drops (282). Then it’s back to poor, choppy conditions through Saturday the 25th with 22 mph southerly winds wrecking things.
Bottom line: a long flat run, then one golden morning on Wednesday the 22nd. Don’t blink.
Rusty.
