Table - best surf conditions forecast for Walton Rocks (Power Plant) over the next 16 days.
Alright, I’m gonna level with you. For Walton Rocks (Power Plant), this forecast is a total bummer. We’re looking at the entire period from July 11th right through July 26th, and there’s just no surf to be found. That’s a flat spell of over two weeks.
We’re scraping the bottom of the barrel with swell heights that barely touch 2 ft on the biggest days. The highest wave energy we see is a measly 43 (moderate wave energy) on the afternoon of Saturday the 25th, but that’s coming with a messy 2 ft easterly windswell, a short period of just 7 seconds, and a moderate side breeze. Not worth checking.
Most days are showing waist-to-ankle high dribble at a foot or less. Sure, we get some clean mornings with offshore or glassy winds—like Thursday morning July 16th with that 1 ft east-northeast swell and dead calm conditions—but a foot of swell with no power just doesn’t break.
The water’s warm, running about 85°F, which is pretty normal for this time of year. You’ll be comfortable sitting out there, but you’ll be sitting out there doing nothing.
Forget the surfboard. With this kind of small, short-period, weak swell and the wind we’re seeing, this setup looks way better for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer. Don’t waste the gas. There isn’t a single session I’d recommend.
Rusty.
