The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here again. Let’s break down the same outlook for Walton Rocks, but in the old units.
To be honest, the next 16 days are a real flat spell at Walton Rocks (Power Plant). The combined energy of all swells is weak, topping out at 81, and often much lower. There’s a gap of no worthwhile surf from now, July 19th, all the way through to the end of the month. The swell is tiny, barely cracking 2ft, with a short period of 4 to 8 seconds, giving us weak, choppy, and unshapely waves. The wind is also a problem, mostly cross or cross-shore, keeping the surface messy.
The water temperature is about average for this time of year.
Around July 28th into the 29th, we finally see a slight change. The wind goes light offshore from the WSW, cleaning things up. But the swell is still tiny, a pathetic 1ft from the East, with a period of 8 to 9 seconds. The wave energy is weak (31). It’s clean, but it’s just a knee-high dribbler. Nothing to get excited about.
The first week of August is more of the same. A few light offshore mornings, but the swell is too small. By August 3rd, the swell period bumps up to 10 seconds, but the height is only 0.7ft, so it’s a no-go.
This is a tough run. Don’t bother waxing up just yet. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
