Table - best surf conditions forecast for Asling's Beach over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Well, I’ve got some news for ya—it’s a bit of a slow start for Asling’s Beach, but if you’ve got patience, the second week looks like it could be the real deal. The water temp’s sitting at about 60°F, pretty much dead average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
First up, we’ve got a few days of pretty ordinary stuff. Friday morning on the 10th of July, there’s a 3ft swell from the SE with a 9-second period. The energy’s sitting at 204, so it’s moderate, and the wind’s glassy from the NNW—clean as a whistle. But the waves are just surfable, nothing to write home about. Friday afternoon turns messy with a NE cross-breeze and the swell barely holding. Saturday the 11th, the morning clears up with a NNW offshore and a small 3ft ESE swell; it’s clean but tiny. Saturday afternoon gets a bit of a longer-period 11-second E groundswell at 2ft, but the NNE wind is cross-off, so it’s tidy for what it is. Sunday the 12th, though, the swell drops right off—1ft and 1.0ft, and the wind’s howling from the W at 12-16 mph. That’s a write-off. Monday the 13th is worse; the swell’s barely there at 0.7ft and then 0.3ft, with the combined energy down to 14 and 4—weak as water. Tuesday and Wednesday are a mess with cross-winds and short-period slop; Thursday the 16th isn’t much better.
But hold onto your board—Friday morning the 17th of July is where it starts to get interesting. We get a 6ft swell from the E with a 10-second period, and the energy jumps to 701—strong wave energy. The wind is glassy from the WNW, so it’ll be dead clean. That’s a standout session for Asling’s Beach, no doubt. Saturday the 18th, morning keeps a 6ft E swell, still clean under cross-off N winds, but the afternoon gets a bit lumpy with a NE 12 mph cross-breeze. Then Sunday the 19th—this is the big one. A 7ft E swell with an 11-second period and a combined energy of 1055, which is strong. Morning winds are light and cross-off from the N, clean as. That’s your best wave of the forecast. Monday the 20th rolls in with a 5ft E swell under offshore NNW winds—still good. Tuesday the 21st, we get 5-5ft E swell with glassy conditions in the afternoon from a light WNW breeze, energy at 600. Wednesday the 22nd, another 5ft E groundswell with clean winds in the morning. After that, the winds get messy from the 23rd onwards with cross and cross-onshore winds, dropping the quality. The swell sticks around at 3-4ft, but the chop’s not worth it.
So, my pick: If you’re keen, the Friday morning the 17th and the Sunday morning the 19th are your standout windows. The 19th is the biggest and cleanest—7ft, E groundswell, and glassy-ish offshore conditions. Just remember, that longer 11-second period at the beach break might mean it breaks a bit straight, but the energy and the wind make it a cracker. The rest of the second week, from the 20th to the 22nd, is still good but not as special. After that, it gets messy. Out of everything, the 19th is the one to circle.
Rusty signing off.
