The Lowdown
Alright, mate, Rusty here. Let’s have a proper look at the next couple of weeks for Asling's Beach.
Honestly, it’s a bit of a flat, quiet spell kicking things off. For the first week and a bit, we’re staring at a whole lot of nothing. There’s a couple of tiny pulses of energy, but nothing that’s going to get you out of bed. We’re talking about a solid week of smaller waves, mostly below 3ft, and a lot of it coming from the wrong directions. There’s some glassy mornings here and there, which will keep the water looking pretty, but the swell just isn’t there. Anyone hoping for a wave will be doing a lot of floating.
The real story starts to change around Sunday the 30th. That’s when we finally see a pulse of energy start to build. The wind turns offshore in the afternoon, and we get a bit of a clean-up. It’s still pretty average, but at least it’s something. That energy builds through Monday the 31st, with a proper SSE swell starting to fill in. We’re looking at head-high sort of waves by the afternoon, with clean conditions from a cross-offshore breeze. The energy is building too, with the combined swell energy jumping into the low triple digits, so there’s actually some push behind it.
Tuesday the 1st keeps that pace going in the morning, with chest to head-high sets and clean conditions. But the afternoon turns messy as the wind swings onshore and chops things up. The standout, without a doubt, is Wednesday morning on the 2nd. We’ve got a glassy morning, light offshore winds, and a solid SE swell running at around 5ft. The energy is strong, with a combined reading up in the 390 bracket. This is the best of the bunch. The water temp is about average for the time of year, nothing wild.
For the beginners out there, that Wednesday morning swell at 5ft is getting on for a bit much, and it’ll be pushing limits. The afternoon on Wednesday is big, hitting over 7ft, so that’s one for the experienced crew only. There’s a lot of energy in that one, with the combined reading jumping to 1708, which is serious. But the tide and conditions are questionable, so it’s a case of pick your moment.
So, in short, don’t hold your breath for the first 10 days, then keep an eye on the end of the month. The best bet on offer is that Wednesday morning glass. I’d be checking the tides on the afternoon of Wednesday the 2nd, as it’s going to be big and maybe a bit wild.
Rusty out.
