Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here with a look at what’s on offer for Asling's Beach over the next couple of weeks. Honestly, it’s a pretty slow run for the most part, but there are a couple of moments that could get your heart pumping. Let’s get into it.
First up, the good stuff is scarce, especially right now. The water temp is sittin' around 61°, which is pretty standard for this time of year, nothing wild going on there. We’re looking at a real long gap from the start with barely a ripple worth paddling for.
The first real glimmer of hope doesn't show up until Sunday the 5th. We get a sudden jump in size, with a solid 8ft swell from the S. This thing has some serious grunt behind it – the combined swell energy hits 1807 (moderate wave energy) – but the cross-shore winds are gonna chop it up. The conditions are marginal at best, so it's more about the power than the polish. By Sunday afternoon the energy drops a bit to 1634, and the wind eases off, but the swell’s still a bit messy for a beginner. It’s not a stand-out, but it breaks the silence.
Skip ahead to Wednesday the 8th afternoon. Here we go again: a 8ft swell from the SSE. Combined energy is 1422 (moderate wave energy). The clean lines aren't there thanks to the cross-wind, but for an experienced surfer, that’s some size to play with. It’s a “one to watch” but with the wind, it's more a test of strength than a smooth ride.
Now, if you’re looking for the real window of opportunity, set your alarm for Friday the 10th. This is the one. We’ve got a 5ft groundswell rolling in from the SE, with a period of 10 seconds, giving it some nice shape. The combined energy is 587 (moderate wave energy). But the real beauty is the wind: Friday morning it’s a light cross-offshore, and by the afternoon it goes glassy. That’s right, glass. Clean, smooth sets. This is the standout session if you can get out there. It’s not a huge, scary wave, and with the clean conditions, it’s the best bet for a quality, fun session. It's not an expert-only affair, but it's definitely the pick.
The good vibes hang around a bit into Saturday the 11th morning. The swell drops to 3ft, but it’s a clean cross-offshore breeze. The energy is only 192 (weak wave energy), so it’s small and fun rather than powerful. A good follow-up to Friday if you’ve got the time.
After that, it’s a long, slow fade. We get a little spike on Tuesday the 14th morning with a 3ft SSE swell and a clean offshore wind from the NW. The energy is 120 (weak wave energy), so it's just a tiny, clean wave for a longboard. The swell is a short 8 seconds, so it won’t have much punch.
Beyond that, things get pretty rough. The winds pick up, the swell drops to next to nothing, and we’re looking at a lot of days with poor conditions and choppy water. For the rest of the outlook, it’s flat and not worth getting wet for. The only real action is that run from Sunday the 5th through to Friday the 10th. Keep your eyes on the sky for that glassy Friday.
Rusty.
