Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s coming up over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, we’ve got a bit of a slow start. The first real window worth paddling out for is Tuesday the 7th, but honestly, it’s not doing much. Asling’s Beach is a sheltered setup, and while there’s a 5ft SE swell with a 10-second period, the wind is cross and the energy is moderate at best (810). It’s a marginal, choppy mess. The afternoon drops off even more. Not our day.
Wednesday the 8th is a little better if you’re desperate. Morning sees 5ft ESE swell, period still around 10 seconds, and cross-shore wind leaving a slight chop. Energy drops to 557. Afternoon picks up a bit more energy (1132) with 6ft SE swell, but wind gets cross-onshore and it stays choppy. Still nothing to get excited about.
Thursday the 9th is where we start seeing a glimmer. Morning brings glassy conditions with a light WSW breeze, 3ft ESE swell at 10 seconds, but the energy is weak (298). Afternoon stays glassy with 4ft SE swell and 9-second period (224). Wave heights are small, but the clean surface means you could have a fun little session on a longboard if you’re keen.
Friday the 10th morning offers clean surf with offshore NNW wind, 3ft SE swell at 8 seconds, and low energy (204). Not powerful, but clean. Afternoon stays clean with a bit more size at 4ft, but wind goes cross-off and energy remains low (191). Not a standout, but workable.
Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th see the swell fade fast. Mornings drop to 3ft and 2ft with clean conditions, but energy is barely there (110 and 81). From Sunday afternoon onward, it’s a long flat spell. From the 12th through the 19th, we’re looking at mostly poor or very small surf. A few small pulses pop up around the 18th and 19th, but the longest stretch of nothing runs from the 12th afternoon through the 16th.
We get a small pulse on Wednesday the 17th morning: glassy with 3ft SSE swell at 10 seconds, energy around 127. Not big, but clean and surfable. After that, a bit more energy arrives on Sunday the 19th morning with 2ft SE swell at 13 seconds, energy of 115, and cross-off wind. Very small but clean.
Now, the one to circle on your calendar is Wednesday the 22nd. This is the best of the whole outlook. Morning brings 6ft SE swell at 9 seconds, light offshore W wind, and clean conditions. The combined energy hits 531, the wind is offshore, and the setup looks good. It’s a sheltered break, so this size should produce some fun, clean lines. It’s the only “expect good surf” window in the whole forecast and it stands out.
Water temperature is about average for the time of year, nothing unusual.
So overall, a slow two weeks with a long flat spell in the middle. The 22nd is the clear winner. Keep your eyes on that. Get out on the 9th or 10th if you’re jonesing for small clean waves, but the real action is a week and a half away.
Rusty.
