The Lowdown
Alright, let me tell you how it's lookin' out there. To be honest with ya, this stretch is a real heartbreaker. We're talkin' a 16-day window, and for the most part, the surf is just... flat and messy. The wind is blowin' from the wrong direction almost the whole time, and the swell is short, weak, and choppy. It's a long, dry spell with hardly a wave worth paddlin' for.
The only spot we've got to look at is Aleluia, a reef setup. The water temp is sittin' around 79°, which is pretty much normal for this time of year, so no surprises there.
For the first few days, it's all onshore slop. Thursday the 20th has a little 4ft swell from the ESE, but it's blown out with a 9 mph wind right on it. The waves are just poor, no energy behind 'em. The whole first week, from the 20th right through to the 25th, is a write-off. We're seein' tiny swell heights, mostly under 3ft, and short period junk around 6 to 8 seconds. The combined energy is weak, down in the low double digits, barely enough to push a sea foam.
We get a flicker of hope on Wednesday the 26th. A long-period groundswell shows up from the South, a solid 16 seconds, and the combined energy jumps to 256 (moderate). The problem? It's only 2ft. And the wind is still cross-onshore. It's a marginal call, maybe a sneaky wave if you're desperate, but it's not gonna be pretty.
The next few days, the southern swell lingers but the wind just won't quit. Thursday the 27th has a bit more energy at 415 (strong), but again, it's only 3ft and onshore. It's a tease. The same story repeats all the way to the end of August.
As we roll into the first week of September, the swell direction swings back to the East, but it's still short-period, wind-affected junk. On Tuesday the 1st of September, there's a tiny window of cross-shore wind in the morning with a 4ft, 8-second swell, but it's still a marginal call. By the 4th of September, the same pattern holds.
Honestly, there's not a single standout session in this whole outlook. The best you could call is a "maybe" on the morning of the 26th of August if you're a glass-half-full kinda surfer, but even that's a stretch. The wind is against us, the swell is small, and it's just a real bummer of a forecast.
