The Lowdown
Alright, let’s get into it. This forecast for Siriu covers a long stretch, but it’s a mixed bag, with a fair bit of onshore chop and not much to get too excited about until the very end of the period. The water temp is about average for this time of year, nothing weird there.
The first few days, from Friday the 17th through to the start of the next week, are a bit of a write-off for clean surfing. Swell is hanging around the 5ft to 7ft mark, but the wind is mostly cross or cross-onshore, with a moderate breeze kicking up a cross-chop. The energy is moderate (763 to 1012), but it’s messy. Not worth paddling out for.
Tuesday the 21st is where things start to look a bit better. It’s a small day, swell around 5ft from the ENE, but the wind goes glassy in the morning, and then light and cross-off in the afternoon. That’s the first real window of clean conditions, but it’s small. The energy is weak (274). Wednesday morning the 22nd is glassy again, but the swell drops right off to 3ft. A good day for a beginner or a longboard, but not a standout.
The real standout, the one you’ve been waiting for, is Saturday the 24th and then Sunday the 25th. Friday the 24th morning serves up a clean 6ft swell from the south with a gentle breeze, cross-off wind. That’s a solid, clean session for a beginner-friendly break. The energy is moderate (858). But the gem is Sunday morning the 25th: glassy conditions, 4ft of swell from the SSE, with a period bumping up to 10 seconds. The energy is moderate (506). That’s the pick of the first week. Clean, glassy, and very surfable. Crowds are just ‘sometimes’, so you might get a wave to yourself.
After that, it goes quiet again. The wind picks up and the swell drops off through the 26th and 27th, with fresh cross-shore winds making a mess. There’s a big gap of poor conditions.
Then, hold onto your board, because the end of the forecast is a doozy. On Wednesday the 29th of July, a proper pulse hits. In the afternoon, we’re looking at 10ft of swell from the south, with a very long period of 12 seconds. The energy is massive (4766). The wind is light and cross-shore. This is a big, powerful groundswell, but here’s the catch: for a beginner spot, 10ft is way too big. This is expert-only territory. And with that long period, it’s going to be breaking straight and fast at the beach, so it’s really a reef or point wave kind of day. Still, it’s a huge, powerful swell. Thursday the 30th is similar but with heavy rain and onshore gale-force winds, so that’s a no-go.
The big swell lingers into the first of August, with 8ft from the SE, long period, but the wind is light and cross-shore, making it manageable for the more experienced. The energy is still strong (1862).
If you’re a beginner, stick to the glassy, small days around the 21st and 22nd. If you’re an expert, keep your eyes on Wednesday the 29th for a massive, powerful swell, but be ready for it to be wild and only for the brave.
