Table - best surf conditions forecast for Zampa (Inside) over the next 16 days.
Alright, listen up. The first week plus is a total bust. From now until about July 16th, Zampa (Inside) has got nothing going on. Flat spells, tiny junk swell, and a few days with gale-force offshore winds that’ll keep you on the beach. Not worth wetting a suit.
Things start to whisper on July 17th, a Friday. We get a small pulse from the NNE, pushing about 3 ft, with a period of 7 seconds. The combined energy is moderate at 137. With a light cross-off breeze from the ENE at 15 km/h, it’ll be clean but weak. That afternoon, the wind drops to almost nothing, and the period stretches to 8 seconds with energy at 157. You can surf it, but you’ll be fighting for scraps.
July 18th, Saturday morning, shows a 2 ft swell from the east with a long 13-second groundswell. Combined energy sits at 140. It’s clean with a gentle cross-off breeze from the NE at 15 km/h. That long period means the waves will have some shape on the reef, but they’ll be small and far between.
Now, the real deal is Monday, July 20th. That morning we’ve got a solid 4 ft swell from the east, an 18-second period – that’s very long-period groundswell. The combined energy hits 1050, which is strong. Wind is cross-off from the SE at 20 km/h, keeping the surface clean. By the afternoon, it’s pushing 5 ft from the east, 16-second period, energy at 1178. This is excellent for experienced surfers. The long period will focus the energy on the reef, giving proper stand-up waves. Just expect long lulls between sets.
Tuesday, July 21st, is the peak. Morning session brings 5 ft from the ENE, a 16-second period, and a massive combined energy of 1477. The wind is a light cross-off from the east at 15 km/h – near glassy. This is the best session of the whole outlook. Water temp is 28° – about average for the time of year. Afternoon stays good but with a touch more wind.
Wednesday, July 22nd, gets heavy. Morning sees 10 ft from the north, 12-second period, energy roaring at 3018. Wind is cross-off from the ENE at 25 km/h. This is expert-only territory. Afternoon swells to 12 ft from the NNW, 13-second period, energy at 3858 – too big and dangerous for most.
Thursday, July 23rd, the swell drops to 7 ft from the NW, 11-second period, energy at 1099. Still hefty, but the wind picks up to a fresh cross-shore from the NNE at 35 km/h in the afternoon, creating rough, lumpy conditions.
Summary: First week and a half – dead. From July 17th, you get tiny clean waves. The real standout is Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st of July – that’s where the quality long-period groundswell and light winds come together. Tuesday morning is the golden hour. After that, it gets too big and messy unless you’re charging serious size. This is Rusty, signing off.
