Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s cookin’ for Wells Jetties over the next couple of weeks. Gotta be straight with you—it’s lookin’ like a long, flat spell with barely a ripple worth paddling for. We’ve got a good 12-day gap where the surf is just too poor to recommend. The first sniff of anything surfable doesn’t show up until Sunday the 19th, and even then, it’s pretty ordinary.
Wells Jetties (beach/jetty) – The first pickin’s come on Sunday the 19th, afternoon. We’re talkin' a tiny 1ft SE swell, but the period stretches out to 10 seconds, giving it a little bit of groundswell feel. Combined energy is moderate at 102—there’s a pulse, but it’s weak. Water temp is about average for the time of year. The real highlight is the glassy conditions, with that light SE breeze dropping off to nothing. That’s a rare treat, and it’ll make the little waves look clean. Crowds? This spot can get ‘em sometimes, but on a day like this with barely a wave, you might have it to yourself.
On Monday the 20th, the morning starts clean with light offshore wind from the WSW pushing into the SE swell (1ft, 8 second period). Combined energy drops to 78—weak. It’s surfable but ordinary. The afternoon turns glassy again with some rain showers around, same tiny swell. That glass keeps it rideable, just don’t expect any power.
Tuesday the 21st morning holds onto some hope with a clean, cross-offshore breeze from the W (15 km/h) and a 1.0ft SE swell, 8-second period. Energy is weak at 51. It’s clean, but barely a wave. By afternoon, the wind swings onshore from the S, choppin’ it up, and that’s it for the run.
Truth is, there isn’t a single standout in this whole 16-day window. The only one worth a mention is that Sunday afternoon glass-off—if you’re desperate for a slide on a longboard or a foiler, that’s your moment. Otherwise, this is a tough stretch for Wells Jetties. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
