Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Right then, let’s have a look at what’s on offer for the next couple of weeks. I’ll be straight with you, mate – the outlook for Wells Jetties is a tough one. This is a beach/jetty setup that’s exposed to the swell, and it’s going to be a long stretch of pretty ordinary conditions. There’s no real standout session in the near future, and you’ll be waiting a while for anything that’s even worth a mention.
We’ve got a long gap of poor surf ahead. From now, through to Thursday the 10th of July, it’s mostly small, weak, and messy. The combined swell energy is weak, with values in the 20s and 30s (29 to 128), and the wind is a constant issue, mostly onshore or cross-onshore. The only real glimmer in this first week is Friday morning, the 10th of July. The wind goes glassy, which is a major positive, but the swell is tiny at 2 ft from the E with an 8-second period and weak energy (59). It’s surfable but very ordinary. The crowd factor here is “sometimes,” so you might have company even for that tiny stuff.
After that, it’s back to a solid run of poor conditions right through until the 17th of July. The wind stays messy, and the swell is mostly non-existent. The water temperature is pretty close to average for the time of year here, but honestly, you won’t be in the water long enough to notice.
Finally, on Friday the 17th of July, we get another chance. The morning looks promising – clean conditions with a light NNW offshore wind and surfable waves. The swell is 2 ft from the ESE with a 7-second period and energy at 75. It’s not going to blow your mind, but after this long blank run, it’s the best we’ve got. The wind turns offshore again on Saturday the 18th (NNW, 3 mph) and Monday the 20th (NW, 6 mph), but the swell stays tiny.
Honestly, mate, it’s a tough stretch. There’s nothing in the first week, and the second week only offers a couple of mornings with clean conditions and knee-high waves. You’d be better off checking back in a few days to see if the forecasts change. The blank runs are a bit more normal for this area when the conditions line up against us.
Rusty.
