The Lowdown
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for the next couple of weeks.
Well, I gotta be straight with you – it’s gonna be a tough stretch. We’re looking at a long, quiet run with nothing really worth paddling out for. The first solid bit of energy doesn’t show up until the morning of Tuesday, August 19th, and even that’s a bit of a mixed bag. So get ready for a solid two-week gap of flatness or tiny, gutless stuff.
The first chance you’ll get to wet a line is on Tuesday, August 19th at Wells Jetties. The swell is gonna bump up a bit, with a short-period 4ft coming from the south. The combined energy is moderate, reading 141. The water temp is about average for the time of year at 66°F. The wind is light from the south, which is a light cross-onshore, not ideal. It’ll be messy, but it’s the only pulse on the horizon. The swell direction is south, but the optimum for this spot is east, so it’s not gonna be super well-shaped. Still, it’s something to look at if you’re desperate.
Honestly, that’s the only real standout in the whole 16-day window. The rest of the time, the swell is tiny, weak, and the winds are often cross or onshore. It’s a proper blank run, and it’ll take a lot of patience.
Keep your eyes on the forecasts, because things can change, but for now, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
