Table - best surf conditions forecast for Wamberal Beach over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Look, we’ve got a bit of a mixed bag coming up at Wamberal Beach. The week starts off with some clean, glassy surf but it doesn’t last long. The real highlight is Friday morning, the 10th of July, with a solid 6-foot SE swell and a light offshore wind from the WSW. The water’s sitting at 66°, a touch warmer than average for this time of year. The waves are clean, the energy is moderate (520), and it’s a good option for beginners if you’re looking for a paddle. Friday afternoon is even better wind-wise—glassy conditions from a light S breeze, with a 5-foot SE swell and a bit more energy (543). That’s your best bet for the first few days.
Saturday morning, the 11th, sees a drop to 4-foot SE swell with a cross-offshore wind keeping things tidy, but by the afternoon it turns messy with a cross-onshore breeze. Sunday the 12th has clean conditions thanks to offshore winds, but the swell is tiny—2 feet and dropping—so not much to write home about. Monday and Tuesday are flat as a tack, with swell barely breaking 0.7 feet. Wednesday the 15th brings a bit of a pulse, but the wind is fresh and the swell is short-period and messy.
Now, from Thursday the 16th onwards, things get serious. A big swell builds in: 8 feet on Thursday morning, climbing to 10 feet by the afternoon, and peaking on Friday the 17th at 12 feet ESE with a very long period of 12 seconds. The energy is massive (3277 to 5673), but this is way too big for beginners and honestly, it’s only for experts. The wind is cross or cross-onshore, so it’ll be choppy and heavy. This setup at a beach break with that kind of power is probably more interesting for the kite crew than us paddle surfers.
That big swell lingers through the weekend and into Monday the 20th, but it drops back to a manageable 5-foot SE swell on Monday morning with clean conditions. Tuesday the 21st through to Thursday the 23rd offers consistent 4-4-foot SE groundswell with offshore winds in the mornings—good, clean, and surfable for all levels. The standout there is Thursday morning, the 23rd: 4-foot ESE, clean, moderate energy (338), and a nice offshore breeze.
Friday the 24th sees another pulse to 7-foot ESE, but the wind turns cross-offshore and it’s a bit lumpy. Saturday the 25th finishes the run with a cleaner 5-foot ESE swell and light winds—worth a look.
All in all, the best on offer is Friday the 10th for clean, glassy waves and Thursday the 23rd for a solid, clean morning session. The big stuff in between is for the brave or the kite surfers.
Rusty.
