Table - best surf conditions forecast for Vermelha do Centro over the next 16 days.
Alright, let's break down what's happening over the next couple of weeks. We're looking at one spot that's got a full menu of conditions.
Our main focus is Vermelha do Centro. It’s a consistent spot that's friendly for beginners, and open to the swell. The water's sitting right around the normal temp for this time of year, so nothing shocking. The week kicks off with a clean start on Sunday, July 12th. We’ve got a 3ft SE swell with a long 12-second period. The wind is light and offshore from the NW, making it glassy. The wave energy is moderate (272). It's a small, clean wave – a nice way to get the feet wet.
Monday the 13th is where the juice starts flowing. Monday morning, the swell comes up to 5ft from the S, with a 9-second period. The wind is light and cross-offshore from the SW, and the face is clean. Energy jumps to 577. That's a solid, surfable size. By Monday afternoon, it’s a different story – 8ft of S swell. That’s pushing into the "experts only" zone. The energy is huge at 2102, and the cross-onshore wind will mess it up a bit. For the regular surfer, this is a pass. But for a kite surfer, that strong S swell and side wind might just be the perfect recipe for a big-air session.
Then we have a beautiful run of mornings from Tuesday, July 14th through Thursday, July 16th. The swell holds steady around 5ft to 6ft from the SSE and SE, with long 10 to 11-second periods. The real hero is the wind. Tuesday and Wednesday mornings are totally glassy, and Thursday morning is dead calm. Glass. You’re looking at 6ft of groundswell with zero wind on Thursday morning, energy at 847. These are absolutely pristine mornings. The waves will be clean, well-defined, and a pleasure to surf.
Friday, July 17th morning is the absolute pick of the bunch. We've got a 5ft swell from the ESE with a 12-second period, and the wind is light and offshore from the NW. It's glassy. The combined energy hits 1215. That’s a proper, powerful groundswell. This is a world-class morning for experienced guys, but the size is still manageable for a keen beginner. This is the one.
After that, the power drops. From Saturday the 18th through the end of the week, it's smaller: 3ft to 4ft from the E, with shorter 7 to 8-second periods. The mornings still have some glassy windows, but the waves are "ordinary" and the energy is low, hovering around 100-300. You can still get wet, but the magic is gone.
The following week, from the 21st to the 24th, is flat and uninspiring. Small E swell, weak energy, and mostly cross or onshore winds. There’s a tiny window on the morning of Friday, July 24th, with a 3ft ESE swell and a glassy wind. It's clean but very small. A long way out, don't plan around it.
We do get a late-week surge on the very last weekend. Sunday, July 26th looks interesting. The morning brings a 4ft S swell with zero wind - completely dead glassy. Energy is back up to 664. The afternoon then switches to a 3ft SSE swell with a very long 16-second period, also glassy. That’s a classic, long-period groundswell. It's smaller, but those long lines will wrap in beautifully, especially if you can find a point or inside bowl. That afternoon session is a promising possibility for the end of the run, but being two weeks out, it's a tease for now.
The clear winner is Friday morning, July 17th at Vermelha do Centro. That's your go-to. The Sunday the 26th is a solid backup plan if the long-range models hold up.
Keep your eyes on the charts and your board waxed.
