Canto do Moreira Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's get stuck into what's on the menu for the next couple of weeks at Canto do Moreira.

Overall, we're looking at a solid run of surf, especially in the first week and then again late in the second week. The water is sitting at 72°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, so a spring suit or a shorty might be the call.

The standout session is Monday morning, September 7th. We've got a good 7ft swell out of the south, with a proper 10-second period generating some serious grunt. The combined energy is strong at 1037, and with the wind glassy from the SE, it's going to be clean and powerful. This one's for the experienced crew, though – that size and energy will be a handful.

The rest of the first week keeps things fun. Monday afternoon drops to a still-very-fun 6ft, and Tuesday morning offers 4ft with the same S swell and glassy conditions. The wind stays light and often glassy right through to Friday morning, September 11th, keeping the surface clean. The swell does drop a touch mid-week, but the quality remains good with clean conditions.

We hit a bit of a lull on Saturday, September 12th. The swell drops right off to 2ft with a messy cross-onshore wind, so that's a day to give the board a rest.

Sunday, September 13th, sees a massive pulse of energy come through – 8ft building to 8ft in the afternoon, with combined energy readings over 2500. That's a lot of power. The wind is light, but it's cross-on, so the surface won't be perfect. This is definitely big-wave territory, expert-only stuff.

The next real standout kicks off Monday, September 14th, and runs through the week. On Monday, you've got a solid 7ft from the SSE, with a clean cross-offshore breeze from the NE. The energy is strong at 1619, and the combination of size, direction, and clean wind is hard to beat for experienced surfers. This pattern holds through Tuesday morning, September 15th, with 5ft and clean offshore winds.

Then, another big window opens up on Friday, September 18th. The swell builds to 8ft from the south, with a very long 14-second period. The energy is massive at 2251, and Saturday, September 19th, keeps the goods with 7ft and clean cross-offshore winds. This is going to be a ripping, powerful south swell, perfect for the point break setup here. The sets will be well-spaced with that long period, making it easier to get out, but the power will be serious.

The very end of the run, from Sunday, September 20th, starts to see a shift in swell direction to the east, with a shorter period around 7 seconds. The wind stays okay, but the quality drops off a bit compared to the south swells earlier in the period.

So, to wrap it up: don't miss Monday morning, September 7th, for that clean, powerful south swell, and lock in Friday, September 18th, through Saturday, September 19th, for the biggest and cleanest south groundswell of the run. Get out there.
