Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright surfers, Rusty here. Let's talk about The Wedge over the next couple weeks. This advanced reef break doesn't fire often – it's inconsistent – but when it does, it's a beast. Right now we've got a long stretch of flat, messy days. From Sunday July 5 through Tuesday July 7, it's all tiny, choppy junk with rain – not worth paddling out. Midweek sees a bump in swell, but the wind stays cross and the energy's moderate (1644), so nothing clean yet. Water temp is about 66°, normal for July.
Then Friday July 10 becomes the highlight. Light rain, but the wind goes light cross-off from the west, smoothing everything out. Swell runs about 6 ft from the southeast, period 9–10 seconds, and the combined energy sits in the moderate-strong range (587–622). Not the wedge's ideal direction – it would rather see northeast – but with clean conditions and that size, you'll get some good ones. Saturday July 11 morning also looks promising: clear skies, offshore wind from the WNW at just 3 mph, swell 4 ft from the southeast, period 9 s, glassy. Both these windows should offer fun waves, but remember the break is inconsistent and crowds pop up "sometimes" – so expect company.
After Saturday afternoon the swell drops fast. Sunday July 12 onward goes tiny, and the rest of the fortnight is mostly flat with clean but useless waves. So don't plan around a second pulse – Friday's the call, maybe Saturday morning if you're keen.
