Table - best surf conditions forecast for Kiddies Corner over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s break down what’s happenin’ at Kiddies Corner for the next couple weeks.
Water temp is about 66°F, right around normal for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The start is slow. Thursday the 9th has a 6ft SE swell, but the wind is cross-on and it’s choppy – not a good look. The combined energy is moderate at 604, but you’d be fightin’ the conditions.
Friday the 10th is where it gets good. In the morning, we’ve got a 6ft SE swell with a light cross-offshore breeze, and the report says “expect very good surf conditions.” Then the afternoon turns glassy with a 5ft SE swell. That’s clean, that’s fun, and for a beginner-friendly spot, that’s a real winner. The energy Friday afternoon is 543, still moderate, but the glassy conditions make it the best of the early run.
Saturday the 11th morning is still clean with a 4ft SE swell, but energy drops to 367. It’s surfable, but nothin’ special.
From Sunday the 12th, the swell crashes. We’re talkin’ 3ft, then 2ft, then 1ft… energy drops below 100. There’s a big gap from Sunday afternoon through Wednesday the 15th where it’s just flat and not worth paddlin’ out.
Then it goes nuts. Thursday the 16th, the swell jumps to 16ft from the SSE, energy 4318. That’s way too big for this break. Same story through the 17th, 18th, and 19th – all 15ft to 18ft swells, energy in the thousands. That’s for experts only, and even then, it’s not the right spot for that kind of size.
The real standout is Monday the 20th afternoon. The swell has dropped to 8ft from the SE, with a 11-second period, and the wind is dead calm – glassy. The energy is still strong at 1575, and the report says “excellent surf conditions for experienced surfers.” That’s the one to circle on the calendar. Beginners should stay out, but for the crew that can handle it, that’s the best session of the run.
Tuesday the 21st morning is still solid with a 6ft SE swell, offshore wind, and clean conditions. The energy is 716, moderate. Good backup.
After that, it fades again. Wednesday the 22nd is windy and messy, and Friday the 24th brings a 6ft ESE swell with clean conditions, but the wind is cross-off, so it’s just okay.
So, bottom line: Friday the 10th for clean, fun, beginner waves, and Monday the 20th afternoon for the experienced crew lookin’ for a glassy, solid swell. The rest is either flat, too big, or blown out.
Rusty.
